Role & responsibilities

- Prepare and maintain the operation theatre before, during, and after surgical procedures.

- Ensure the availability and proper functioning of surgical instruments, equipment, and OT supplies.

- Assist surgeons, anesthetists, and OT nurses during surgical procedures.

- Handle, arrange, and maintain surgical instruments as per procedure requirements.

- Operate and monitor OT equipment, including monitors, suction machines, electrosurgical units, and other surgical equipment.

- Ensure proper sterilization, disinfection, and storage of surgical instruments.

- Maintain aseptic techniques and ensure compliance with infection control protocols.

- Assist in patient positioning and preparation before surgical procedures.

- Check the functionality of OT equipment and report any malfunction to the concerned department.

- Maintain inventory of surgical instruments, consumables, and other OT supplies.

- Ensure proper biomedical waste segregation and disposal as per hospital guidelines.

- Assist in shifting patients to and from the operation theatre safely.

- Maintain OT registers, checklists, equipment records,



and other required documentation.

- Coordinate with CSSD, nursing staff, surgeons, and other departments for smooth OT operations.

- Ensure compliance with hospital SOPs, NABH standards, and patient safety protocols.

Preferred candidate profile

- Diploma / B.Sc. in Operation Theatre Technology (OTT) from a recognized institute.

- 4+ years of experience as an OT Technician in a multi-specialty hospital.

- Hands-on experience in OT preparation, surgical assistance, and instrument handling.

- Knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment used in different specialties.

- Familiarity with sterilization, disinfection, and infection control practices.

- Knowledge of anesthesia equipment, suction machines, monitors, and electrosurgical units.

- Understanding of biomedical waste management protocols.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment.

- Positive coordination and communication skills.

- Willingness to work in rotational shifts and emergency OT duties.
