About the Role

We are hiring a full-time Transactions Data Analyst to own the accuracy of Specter’s data on funding rounds, acquisitions, and IPOs worldwide.

What You Will Do

- Verify funding rounds, acquisitions, and IPOs against primary sources.
- Research private companies across news, company websites, investor portfolios, and regulatory filings.
- Fix incorrect amounts, dates, and stages, and add missing rounds and investors.
- Classify complex deal types, including extensions, SAFEs, convertible notes, secondary sales, and venture debt.
- Resolve conflicting sources and merge duplicate company profiles.
- Spot recurring errors and raise them with engineering on your own initiative.
- Write short, clear notes on what you found, what you changed, and why.

What We Need

- 1–2 years of experience in research, data analysis, or a related role.
- Clear, precise communication in English, both written and spoken. You can explain your findings so others can act on them.
- A solid eye for detail.



You notice when a deal record does not match its sources, and you fix it without being asked.
- Full ownership of your work. You meet your commitments and keep your team informed without needing reminders.
- An AI-first way of working. You use AI tools to speed up research, and you check their output against primary sources.
- Fluency in company filings from the SEC (including Form D), UK Companies House, and India’s MCA. You look past the press release to what was filed

Good to Have

- Experience with funding rounds, M&A;, or IPO data.
- Experience with Crunchbase, PitchBook, or similar platforms.
- Basic SQL (filtering, joining, and counting records).
- A second language for reading local news and filings.

Selection Process

1. Assignment: Review 6–8 real deals, correct any errors, and flag any deal that the sources cannot confirm.

2. Reasoning Test: Complete a short test of logical and numerical reasoning.

3. Interview Rounds: Discuss deal structures and explain how you reached your decisions.
