Job Description: Social Design & Monitoring Specialist

Location: Ahmedabad, Gujarat | Reporting to: Director – Programs | Vacancy: 1

Position Overview

We are looking for someone to strengthen how we design, monitor and learn from our programmes. The role combines human-centred design with rigorous M&E;, and turns data into explicit insights and stories that help us improve our work across the portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

- Review existing programmes (healthcare, education, rural development) through a social design lens and recommend improvements
- Facilitate participatory workshops with communities, staff and stakeholders to co-create solutions
- Develop theories of change and logic models for projects
- Design and implement M&E; frameworks, including baseline, midline and endline assessments
- Build data collection tools that combine quantitative and qualitative methods
- Create and maintain dashboards that make data easy to understand and act on
- Conduct periodic evaluations and track both intended and unintended outcomes
- Set up feedback loops so programmes can adapt in real time
- Lead action research and document case studies, impact stories and learning briefs
- Prepare evaluation reports, donor reports and impact assessments




- Review reports prepared by project teams to check the accuracy of data and facts, and the quality of language and writing style, before they are shared
- Present findings to internal teams, funders and stakeholders, with clear recommendations
- Build a knowledge management system to preserve organisational learning

Requirements

- Qualification: M.Des (Social Design)
- 3–5 years of experience in M&E;, programme evaluation or social research in the development sector
- Experience applying design thinking or human-centred design to social programmes
- Strong qualitative (FGDs, KIIs, participatory methods) and quantitative (surveys, statistical analysis) research skills
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualisation tools (Excel, SPSS/R, Power BI/Tableau)
- Excellent report writing, with the ability to combine data and storytelling
- Field experience with grassroots communities, and comfort working across teams and locations

Good to Have

- Certification in M&E;, social design or design thinking
- Experience with digital data collection tools (Kobo, ODK, SurveyCTO, CommCare)
- Experience working with government, donors and NGOs
