Trade Innovation Functional Consultant

1. Job Summary We are looking for an experienced Trade Innovation Functional Consultant with strong expertise in Finastra Trade Innovation (TI) and Trade Finance banking operations.

The candidate should have hands-on experience in functional implementation, product configuration, requirement gathering, business process analysis, functional documentation, testing and production deployment of Trade Finance solutions.

The consultant will work closely with banking clients, business users, technical teams and implementation teams to understand business requirements and deliver functional solutions aligned with banking processes.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Trade Finance Domain Knowledge

- Strong understanding of Trade Finance banking products and processes.
- Good knowledge of Import and Export Letters of Credit (LC).
- Hands-on understanding of Bank Guarantees (BG) and Standby Letters of Credit (SBLC).
- Knowledge of Documentary Collections, Bills and Trade Loans.
- Understanding of Import LC issuance, amendments, document examination and settlement.
- Understanding of Export LC advising, confirmation, negotiation and document handling.
- Knowledge of Trade Finance transaction lifecycle and accounting processes.
- Understanding of SWIFT messaging, including relevant MT7xx messages.
- Knowledge of UCP 600, URDG 758, ISBP and URC 522.

B. Finastra Trade Innovation – Functional Expertise

- Hands-on experience working with Finastra Trade Innovation (TI).
- Functional knowledge of Trade Innovation modules and their business processes.
- Experience in product setup, configuration and parameterization.
- Understanding of Trade Finance workflows, transaction processing and business rules.




- Ability to analyze existing system functionality and map it against client requirements.
- Experience in functional customization and enhancement requirements.
- Knowledge of user roles, access control, approval workflows and authorization processes.
- Understanding of Trade Innovation integration with Core Banking Systems and other banking applications.

C. Functional Consulting and Implementation

- Gather and analyze business requirements from banking clients.
- Conduct functional discussions and requirement-gathering workshops.
- Prepare BRD, FRD, Functional Specifications and process flow documents.
- Perform gap analysis and recommend suitable functional solutions.
- Map business requirements to Trade Innovation product capabilities.
- Support functional configuration and implementation activities.
- Coordinate with technical teams for customization and integration requirements.
- Provide functional clarification to developers and QA teams.
- Support end-to-end implementation from requirement gathering to production go-live.

D. Testing and Validation

- Prepare functional test scenarios and test cases.
- Perform functional testing and validate business workflows.
- Support SIT, UAT and regression testing.
- Validate transaction processing, accounting entries and SWIFT message generation.
- Identify functional defects and coordinate with technical teams for resolution.
- Support banking users during UAT and obtain business sign-off.

E. Go-Live and Post-Implementation Support

- Support production deployment and go-live activities.




- Validate configurations and business processes in production.
- Provide functional support and troubleshoot Trade Finance issues.
- Coordinate with banking operations and technical teams for issue resolution.
- Prepare user manuals and functional documentation.
- Conduct knowledge-transfer sessions for banking users.

4. Experience Requirements

- 5–10 years of experience in Banking / Financial Services.
- Relevant experience in Trade Finance functional consulting.
- Hands-on experience with Finastra Trade Innovation is strongly preferred.
- Experience in at least one or more Trade Finance implementation or enhancement projects.
- Experience in client interaction, requirement gathering and functional solution delivery.
- Exposure to end-to-end implementation, testing and production deployment.
- Solid communication and analytical skills.

- Trade Finance Functional Consultant.
- Banking Product Implementation Consultant.
- Trade Finance Business Analyst with hands-on TI implementation exposure.
- Candidates from FinTech, Banking IT consulting and Core Banking implementation organizations.

Note: Candidates with only Trade Finance operations, transaction processing or L1/L2 production support experience without functional implementation exposure will not be preferred.
