ABOUT OJASWI WELLNESS

Ojaswi Kalaripayattu & Wellness heals through Kalaripayattu, Kerala's ancient martial art, and Kalari Marma Chikitsa, the healing system that grew out of it. Kalari Marma began as a warriors' science for treating combat and training injuries. It works on the body's 108 marma points, where muscles, nerves, bones and joints meet, through oil massage, targeted pressure and joint mobilisation.

We describe Kalari Marma as a specialised, hands-on expression of Ayurvedic knowledge. Ayurveda largely works from the inside out, through diet, herbal medicine and daily routine. Kalari Marma works from the outside in, giving precise, corrective care for musculoskeletal injuries, nerve-related problems, chronic pain, stiffness and posture.

Most of our patients come to us with spine and joint conditions: disc bulges, protrusions, herniations, annular tears and compressed spines. Our approach has two stages. First, we release the tight ligaments and muscles that guard an inflamed spine. Then we decompress the spine manually to restore space between the vertebrae. Treatment is followed by rest, strengthening exercises and lifestyle guidance.

Our main centre, Ojaswi Kalaripayattu & Wellness Centre in V arkala, Thiruvananthapuram, is an Ayurveda hospital where patients stay for residential treatment programmes. Treatments there are led by Abhijith Gurukkal, who has over 30 years in Kalaripayattu and 20 years in Kalari Marma therapy.

Our recent Ojaswi Kalari Marma Treatment Centre in Koramangala, Bangalore, offers Kalari Marma treatments on a visit basis, without inpatient stay, delivered by trained Kalari Marma therapists.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an Ayurveda doctor registered in Karnataka to join our Koramangala centre as the Centre-in-charge. It is a full-time opportunity.

Kalari Marma is an external, hands-on therapy and does not include internal medicine. Some patients, though, need internal medicines alongside their treatment, for example, for gut problems or other such conditions that Kalari-marma treatments do not directly address. As the Doctor-in-charge, you will explain Kalari-Marma treatments to our patients, while also providing Ayurveda consultations to those who specifically require the Ayurveda intervention additionally.

The Doctor will also be the registered Ayurveda practitioner for our Bangalore centre. Their registration will be used to apply for Ojaswi's Karnataka Medical Council License (Private Clinic) to run the centre.

Day-to-day running of the centre shall also be overseen by the Doctor.

We will be providing training on Kalari-Marma Therapies and their possibilities to the doctor at our Varkala Centre.

- Respect for, and interest in, traditional Kalari Marma therapy, and comfort working

alongside a non-medical/ traditional treatment team
