Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain backend applications, services, utilities, and data-processing components using Python.
- Develop and optimise SQL queries, stored procedures, and database interactions across Sybase, MariaDB, and other relational databases.
- Create and support Unix-based scripts, batch processes, interfaces, and operational utilities.
- Investigate defects and production issues using application logs, database analysis, and Unix troubleshooting techniques.
- Write clean, maintainable, secure, and testable code aligned with engineering standards and peer-review practices.
- Use Git for source control and support legacy SVN-based repositories where required.
- Collaborate with business analysts, QA engineers, and developers through Agile/Scrum ceremonies and iterative delivery.
- Prepare technical documentation and support controlled releases across development, test, and production environments.

Qualifications and Experience
- 4 to 6 years of relevant backend software development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python, SQL, Unix, Git, and relational databases.
- Working knowledge of Sybase and MariaDB; exposure to Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL is advantageous.
- Experience with Perl, SVN, and XML is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science,
Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Ownership of assigned deliverables with attention to quality and timelines.
