Job Description – Safety Officer

Location: Taloja, Maharashtra
Experience: Minimum 4 Years
Qualification: Graduate (B.Sc. Chemistry preferred)
Mandatory Requirement: Diploma in Industrial Safety recognised by the State Government.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Safety Officer with a minimum of 4 years of experience in the chemical industry. The candidate will be responsible for implementing safety policies, ensuring statutory compliance, conducting risk assessments, managing emergency preparedness and promoting a protected working environment across plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
- Prepare, review and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safe work practices.
- Ensure safety standards are followed across manufacturing operations.
- Manage permit-to-work systems for hot work, confined space, work at height and electrical activities.
- Conduct safety inductions and monitor contractor safety compliance.
- Maintain the On-site Emergency Plan and conduct periodic mock drills.
- Coordinate with fire departments and relevant authorities for emergency preparedness.
- Monitor workplace health and safety conditions.
- Coordinate workplace monitoring and periodic medical examinations.
- Ensure proper availability and usage of PPE and safety equipment.
- Conduct safety induction and regular training for employees and contractors.




- Organise toolbox talks and training on chemical handling, firefighting, first aid and PPE usage.
- Promote safety awareness and good housekeeping practices.
- Investigate accidents, near misses and unsafe conditions.
- Conduct root cause analysis and ensure corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain incident reports and submit monthly safety performance reports.
- Conduct routine plant inspections and safety audits.
- Ensure compliance with applicable factory and industrial safety regulations.
- Coordinate with Factory Inspectors and other statutory authorities.
- Maintain safety records, training records, inspection reports and statutory documentation.
- Participate in safety committee meetings and follow up on corrective actions.

Required Skills & Competencies

- Strong knowledge of industrial safety practices and chemical plant safety.
- Knowledge of HIRA, JSA, SOPs and Permit-to-Work systems.
- Understanding of emergency response and incident investigation.
- Knowledge of statutory safety requirements and factory compliance.
- Good communication and coordination skills.

Pay: ₹500,000.00 - ₹700,000.00 per year
