Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Stitching Unit Manager / Production Supervisor to lead our in-house and partnered stitching units. In this role, you will oversee the complete production lifecycle for our core product lines—focusing on ethnic wear and regular wear essentials (including palazzos, leggings, skirts, and contemporary bottom wear).
You will be responsible for managing line operations, optimizing workflow across industrial machinery (such as Jack single-needle and flat-lock sewing equipment), maintaining strict quality standards across diverse fabrics (heavy rayon, Gazi silk, and cotton-lycra blends), and ensuring timely dispatches to meet retail and e-commerce demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Production & Floor Management:
- Oversee daily stitching and assembly lines to ensure production targets are met efficiently without compromising quality.
- Allocate manpower effectively across workstations based on operator skill sets to eliminate bottlenecks and minimize cycle times.
- Monitor Work-In-Progress (WIP) inventory levels on the floor to maintain a seamless flow of goods.
- Machinery & Technical Oversight:
- Supervise the operation and basic maintenance of industrial sewing machinery, ensuring optimal performance of single-needle, flat-lock, and overlock machines.
- Ensure proper stitch density, tension, and seam integrity tailored to specific fabric properties (e.g., managing stretch in cotton-lycra blends and draping in heavy rayon or Gazi silk).
- Quality Control & Defect Reduction:
- Enforce rigorous Quality Control (QC) checkpoints at every stage of production—from cutting and stitching to finishing and trimming.
- Track rejection rates, conduct root-cause analysis (Why-Why analysis) for stitching defects, and implement immediate corrective actions.
- Team Leadership & Training:
- Train and mentor sewing operators and line helpers on standard operating procedures (SOPs), stitch specifications, and efficiency targets.
- Maintain floor discipline, safety protocols, and attendance logs to foster a high-performance culture.
- Reporting & Coordination:
- Maintain accurate daily production logs, shift-wise output reports, and wastage records.
- Coordinate closely with inventory management and dispatch teams to ensure finished goods align with planned stock-refill schedules.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 3 to 6 years of supervisory or managerial experience in an apparel manufacturing unit, specifically handling women's bottom wear or ethnic wear.
- Technical Expertise:
- Deep understanding of garment construction, pattern fitting, and sewing techniques for knit and woven fabrics (rayon, cotton-lycra, silk).
- Hands-on familiarity with industrial garment machinery (Jack, Siruba, etc.).
- Core Competencies:
- Strong leadership capabilities with proven experience managing floor operators and line helpers.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to troubleshoot mechanical or workflow issues on the fly.
- Goal-oriented mindset with a strong focus on minimizing fabric wastage and maximizing output efficiency
Pay: ₹13,100.00 - ₹17,000.00 per month
