Position: Assistant Professor / Associate Professor, depending on qualifications and experience Curriculum Area: Culture, Communication, & Community (CCC) | School of Strategic Communication MICA invites applications from scholars and experienced practitioners with strong academic credentials in Strategic Communication. The appointment offers an opportunity to contribute to the intellectual development of CCC through teaching, scholarship, academic mentorship and institutional engagement. Candidates should demonstrate a sound understanding of how organisations communicate, construct meaning, engage stakeholders and shape public perception. Their academic interests should connect communication theory with contemporary organisational and societal challenges, including digital transformation, AI-mediated communication, social media and reputation management. Academic Responsibilities Teaching and Curriculum Development
• Design and deliver courses in strategic, corporate and organisational communication, communication theory and public relations.
• Develop interdisciplinary courses linking communication with management, culture, technology and business strategy.
• Integrate cases, simulations, live projects and experiential pedagogies to develop students’ conceptual understanding and application.
• Contribute to core teaching requirements for 2027–28, curriculum review, learning resources and assessments. Research and Scholarship
• Develop and sustain an active research agenda, with publications in relevant peer-reviewed journals.
• Pursue research grants, collaborative studies and industry-funded projects.
• Advance scholarship in areas including AI-mediated communication, digital publics, organisational reputation, misinformation and communication ethics. Academic Mentorship, Industry Engagement and Institutional Service




• Mentor students and guide their academic and applied projects.
• Build relationships with organisations, agencies and consultancies to facilitate industry projects, guest lectures and executive learning.
• Contribute to programme development, academic administration, faculty committees and institutional responsibilities. Qualifications and Academic Credentials
• A PhD in Communication, Media Studies, Strategic Communication, Public Relations, Organisational Communication or a closely related discipline from a recognised institution.
• A solid academic record, with doctoral research or subsequent scholarship aligned with the position.
• Prior teaching and/or research experience in an academic institution is essential.
• Demonstrated disciplinary expertise through teaching, research and, where relevant, professional practice.
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness or the ability to develop academically rigorous, practice-oriented courses. Candidates who have submitted their doctoral thesis may be considered for Assistant Professor, subject to MICA’s recruitment policy and applicable doctoral completion requirements. Appointment level will follow MICA’s faculty recruitment criteria. Desirable Expertise and Academic Attributes Expertise in interdisciplinary curriculum development; corporate communication, reputation management, public affairs or digital communication; AI-mediated communication, data-driven communication or digital platforms; and executive education, consulting, funded research or industry collaboration. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to integrate theory with contemporary practice, strong communication and mentoring skills, and a collegial approach to interdisciplinary collaboration.
