ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES To lead the department in a manner that meets its agreed vision and values and to establish its position as an internationally recognised ship repairer
· Responsible for ensuring that the Yard Operations are conducted in a safe manner and in accordance with agreed policies and procedures.
· Responsible for ensuring that the Yard Operations are environmentally friendly and in accordance with agreed policies and procedures.
· To maintain safe work culture and address the department regularly during toolbox talks and any other informal meetings.
· Responsible for the safe mooring of vessels and general operations of the ship lift. Facilitate & assist in coordinating the arrival and departure of vessels. Act as the initial liaison between customers, docking crew and customer service. Docking/Undocking & Transfer: a) Ensure proper maintenance of Ship lift platform & Transfer system through docking department managers, supporting officers & workers. b) Plan and execute periodic survey of the platform, transfer system and liquidate all the observations in time to maintain maximum operations ability. c) Receive request info from CommercialMarketing and plan berths availability for ships coming for repairs. d) Ensure docking plans/forms are judiciously recorded. e) Prepare blocks for docking as per docking plan. f) Ensure safe docking/undocking and transfer operations through Transfer system in-charge. g) Mud lifting / Dredging of Ship lift pocket to 19 mtrs and maintaining the depth. h) Preparation of Docking Plan. i) Plan and implement ship lift operation including the vessel support requirements, movement of vessel & dry berthing. j) Meet daily with department supervisors to facilitate the day’s activities. k) Assist other departments when necessary. l) Maintain updated knowledge of products, industry trends and methods. m) Maintain accurate records, both paper and electronic, related to billing, work orders and hours worked. n)



Maintain awareness of and continually practice protected work habits. o) Maintain a safe work environment. p) Maintain cleanliness on projects both during and after job completion. q) Work overtime as and when needed. r) Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Yard Services: a) Assess vessels requirements for services required through services manager and provide accordingly. b) Ensure all yard utilities are in their utmost operations ability through proper periodic maintenance. c) Maintain Yard services inventory throughout to meet immediate requirements. d) Ensure all jobs with respect to AMC are in proper order. e) Ensure all hired utilities are in proper operation state and operators are well trained. Electrical/PGD: a) Ensure electrical services like shore supply and other ancillary connections are provided to the vessel immediately on arrival on repair berths. b) All generators are maintained and available throughout for supplying 50 Hz/60 Hz to vessels requiring the same as well as the yard. c) Ensure mobile generator sets hired or owned are available at all times. d) Closely liaise with MSEB for grid power, meticulously record all power meters for maintaining power factor through electrical managers. e) Maintain all electrical facilities of the yard including tower lights, feeder pillars, all panels etc. With respect to periodic and breakdown maintenance. f) Assisting in operations & Maintenance of all 3nos. Substations. Workshops: a) Ensure all equipments are in operations throughout to maintain productivity at max through workshop supervisors/production managers. b) Maintain workshop inventory/accountability of special tool. Project Management/Refit co-ordination: a) To support all projects for safe and timely completion. Housekeeping: a) Ensure yard cleanliness is given prime importance to become a safe working yard. “A clean Yard is a safe Yard”. Management. a) Implementing ISO standards for safety, environmental and quality management. b) Weekly and monthly reporting in standard format. •
