Company: STANDEX ELECTRONICS (GRID)
- (Previously Narayan Powertech Pvt. Ltd.) Position: Application Support Specialist Job
location:
Padra, Vadodara
- Gujarat Department: IT Reports to: IT Head
Experience:
4 to 5 years working experience in applications setup projects Role Purpose: The Application Support Specialist is the single internal point of contact for day-to-day support and changes across the company’s three ERP systems — DataNote (MS SQL), stERP (MS SQL) and Tally Enterprise 7.0 — as well as custom-developed applications built in-house or supplied by third-party vendors. The role is primarily user-support and MS SQL driven
- resolving user issues, implementing and supporting business applications, writing and modifying stored procedures and SQL queries, optimizing database performance, and coordinating with third-party support vendors and the original developer for deeper changes. Job
Responsibilities:
A. User Support (Primary role)
• Act as the first internal point of contact for all DataNote, stERP and Tally user issues across all sites.
• Log, triage, resolve and close tickets within SLA (8h / 24h); keep users informed of progress.
• Diagnose whether an issue is data-related, configuration-related, application-related or infrastructure-related, and resolve or route accordingly.
• Provide user training, create SOPs / quick-guides, and reduce repeat tickets through root-cause fixes.
• Implement, configure, test, deploy and provide ongoing support for custom-developed applications created in-house or delivered by third-party vendors. B. MS SQL Development & Changes (Core role)
• Write, modify and debug MS SQL stored procedures, functions, triggers, views and complex queries — mainly for DataNote change requests.
• Perform database query optimization and performance tuning (indexing, query restructuring, execution-plan analysis).
• Investigate and fix data issues (mismatches, incorrect postings, duplicates) via controlled, documented corrections — never ad-hoc direct edits to production.
• Build and maintain MIS reports, dashboards and data extracts from the ERP databases. C.
Manufacturing ERP Functional Knowledge (Required / To Be Developed)
• Understand — or rapidly build — functional knowledge of manufacturing ERP processes: Sales Order → Production Planning → BOM → Stores / Inventory → QC → Dispatch → Invoicing → Excise / GST.
• Map user issues and change requests to the correct functional area and understand the downstream impact on stock, costing and financial postings.
• Candidates without prior manufacturing exposure are acceptable if they demonstrate the aptitude and willingness to develop this domain knowledge quickly (structured on-the-job learning plan will be provided).
• Grow into the functional bridge between shopfloor / commercial users and the ERP so that support and changes are business-accurate, not just technically correct. D. Statutory Audit Compliance, Change Documentation & SoD (KEY AREA)
• Statutory audit compliance is a critical accountability of this role. Every ERP change and data correction must be fully documented and audit ready.
• Follow the Change Management process rigorously for all ERP changes — Change Request, impact analysis, approval, UAT sign-off, deployment, rollback plan and post-implementation documentation. No undocumented changes to production.
• Enforce Segregation of Duties (SoD) — ensure conflicting activities (e.g., creating vs approving a transaction, or developing vs deploying a change) are appropriately separated and access is granted on a least-privilege basis.
• Maintain complete audit evidence: change logs, approval trails, user-access registers and periodic access reviews for statutory (Deloitte), internal and customer audits.
• Support auditors directly with change history, SoD matrices and access documentation during statutory audit cycles. E. Vendor & Change Coordination
• Coordinate with 3rd-party support providers and the original developer (Safal) for complex changes that require vendor involvement; track open items, timelines and paid-support usage.
• Coordinate the full lifecycle of vendor-developed applications, including requirements clarification, technical review, testing, implementation, release documentation, issue escalation, upgrades and knowledge transfer to internal support teams. F. Future ERP Migration (Strategic – 2–3-year horizon)
• Act as internal application owner during the planned phase-out of DataNote / stERP / Tally and migration to a next-gen ERP (Oracle / SAP B1 / SAP S/4HANA / Epicor).
• Support data mapping, cleansing, extraction and reconciliation from the legacy MS SQL databases during migration.
• Participate in requirement gathering, UAT and cutover activities for the new platform. 4. Required Skills &
Qualifications:
• Strong MS SQL Server — stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, CTEs, analytical & aggregate functions, joins, MERGE.
• Proven database optimization & performance tuning — indexing strategy, query restructuring, execution-plan analysis.
• Hands-on application / ERP support experience with end users (ticket-based support environment).
• Ability to troubleshoot production issues methodically and communicate clearly with non-technical users.
• Understanding of change documentation & Segregation of Duties (SoD) for statutory-audit compliance — or a demonstrated willingness and aptitude to follow such disciplined processes.
• Manufacturing ERP functional knowledge — required or willing to develop rapidly (Sales Order, Production, BOM, Stores, QC, Dispatch, Invoicing). Behavioral:
• Service-oriented, patient and responsive with users; strong ownership of tickets.
• Highly process-driven and documentation-disciplined — essential for Change Management and statutory-audit compliance.
• Willing and able to learn a recent ERP platform for the upcoming migration. Click to apply or send an email on
