What You’ll Be Doing (position summary): The Consultant, Application Development is accountable for Oracle database development, primarily using SQL and PL/SQL.



The role delivers database development, testing, performance tuning and reporting. It provides subject matter expertise for production and non-production databases. The role helps CIBC build the bank of the future and deliver solutions that meet clients' changing needs. At CIBC India we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. • Develop Oracle databases using SQL and PL/SQL to deliver reliable, high-quality database solutions.
• Develop best practices in database design and development to ensure consistent, maintainable solutions.
• Assess database code before release to confirm it meets requirements and reduces production defects. Strategic Planning:
• Recommend opportunities for improvement, including database modernization, to keep database solutions current.
• Align database development priorities with business unit goals to support client needs. Leadership

Skills:
• Provide subject matter expertise on production and non-production databases to guide team and stakeholder decisions.
• Influence design decisions through clear communication to achieve consistent technical standards. Continuous Improvement:
• Optimize existing code and improve new development to raise quality and performance.
• Analyze database-related challenges and propose appropriate solutions to resolve root causes. Operational Efficiency:
• Perform performance tuning and SQL tuning to improve response times and resource use.
• Produce database reporting to give stakeholders accurate, timely information. Learning and Development:
• Maintain current knowledge of Oracle database technologies to apply modern practices.
• Share knowledge with peers to strengthen overall team capability. CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
• Collaborates with application development, QA,



production support and business teams to understand requirements and resolve database issues.
• Works with fellow team members to share best practices and coordinate production and non-production changes. COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Experience:
7+ years of experience Who You Are (skills/qualifications):
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related technical discipline. Must Have

• 7+ years of relevant experience
• Strong knowledge of Oracle database concepts
• Strong PL/SQL development skills
• Robust SQL tuning skills
• Some UNIX scripting knowledge
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Good problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently
• Ability to present information to groups with the appropriate degree of formality.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with individuals and teams.
• Demonstrated decision-making and critical thinking abilities. Good to Have:
• Microsoft Azure Cloud technologies (Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Blob, Azure DevOps, Azure Monitor, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Catalogue/Purview)
• Fluency in Object Oriented Design, structured Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC), and Agile environments is an asset.
