About Zanskar Research Zanskar Research is a Bengaluru-based systematic trading and technology firm. We build proprietary trading and market-making strategies across asset classes and exchanges, and run them on technology we build in-house: order and risk management systems, exchange co-located infrastructure and low-latency execution systems. About the internship We're looking for B.
Tech students and recent graduates with a genuine interest in cybersecurity to join our security team as interns. This is an immediate requirement. You'll work on real systems alongside experienced engineers, learning how a trading firm defends its infrastructure, its people and its data. You'll get hands-on exposure to both sides of security: how attackers think and operate, and how defenders detect, respond and harden systems against them.
What you'll do
• Monitor Linux systems and review logs (journalctl, /var/log) to spot suspicious activity and misconfigurations
• Investigate network traffic with tools like tcpdump, ss and dig to trace connectivity and security issues to their root cause
• Review access controls, file permissions, users and groups, applying the principle of least privilege
• Help assess applications and services against common risks, including the OWASP Top 10
• Support both defensive (Blue Team) and offensive (Red Team) exercises, and learn how the two work together to strengthen security
• Assist with certificate and TLS hygiene, and with identity and access workflows
• Write scripts to automate routine security checks
• Document findings clearly and take part in reviews with the security and infrastructure teams What we're looking for
• Pursuing or recently completed a B.
Tech in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Science, Electronics or a related field
• Linux basics: comfortable using the shell; understands file permissions, users and groups; can read logs (journalctl, /var/log) and manage systemd services
• Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, subnetting and CIDR, routing basics, what NAT does and how DNS resolves a name; can use ping, traceroute, dig, ss/netstat and tcpdump
• Security fundamentals: the difference between authentication and authorization, least privilege, common attack types (phishing, credential theft, lateral movement) and the OWASP Top 10 at a basic level
• Cryptography: symmetric vs asymmetric encryption, and where cryptography is used in real systems
• Blue Team vs Red Team: what each does, the common tools on each side, and how they work together in an organisation
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Available to join immediately and work onsite in Bangalore for the full internship duration Nice to have
• Identity: some exposure to OAuth2/OIDC, SAML or LDAP/Active Directory
• PKI/TLS: understands certificates, certificate authorities, certificate chains and why certificates expire
• CTF
experience:
especially in forensics, network or misc categories
• Scripting experience in Python or Bash What you'll get
• Hands-on experience securing real production systems at a trading firm
• Exposure to both Blue Team and Red Team work
• Mentorship from experienced security and infrastructure engineers
• A view into how low-latency trading infrastructure is built and protected
• A Pre-Placement Offer for a full time role, based on your performance during the internship
