About The Role
We're hiring a People Associate Employee Engagement & TA to be the heartbeat of our people function, someone who owns the employee experience from the moment a candidate enters our pipeline to the moment they're thriving inside the team. This is not a back-office HR coordinator role. We need someone with genuine emotional intelligence, the kind of person who reads a room before speaking, knows when a team is burning out before anyone says it, and can have difficult conversations without making them worse. You'll sit at the intersection of talent acquisition and employee engagement, and you'll need to be equally sharp at both.
If you've designed engagement initiatives that people actually looked forward to (not just filled attendance for), run hiring cycles end-to-end, and navigated the messy reality of PF, ESIC, and HR compliance without someone holding your hand this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Engagement
• Own the employee engagement calendar end-to-end — plan, design, execute, and measure initiatives that actually move the needle on team morale and retention
• Build and run feedback mechanisms (pulse surveys, skip-levels, 1-on-1 frameworks) and translate insights into actionable changes, not just dashboards
• Drive recognition and rewards programmes that feel authentic, not performative
• Be the go-to person employees trust when something's off — from team friction to manager blind spots to personal challenges affecting work
• Partner with team leads and department heads to identify engagement gaps, flight risks, and culture health across the org
• Own onboarding experience design — ensure every new joiner feels connected, informed, and set up to succeed in their first 90 days
• Plan and execute company-wide events, offsites, town halls, and celebrations that reinforce culture without feeling forced Talent Acquisition
• Manage end-to-end recruitment for assigned roles — from crafting
job description
s and sourcing candidates to scheduling, coordinating interviews, and closing offers
• Build and maintain a robust candidate pipeline through LinkedIn sourcing, referral programmes, job boards, and campus/community channels
• Own the candidate experience — every touchpoint from first message to offer letter should reflect 1% Club's culture and speed
• Partner with hiring managers to define role requirements, interview structures, and evaluation criteria
• Track and report hiring metrics — time-to-fill, source effectiveness, offer acceptance rates — and use data to improve the process HR Compliance & Administration
• Maintain working knowledge of PF (EPF/EPS), ESIC, Professional Tax,
and other statutory HR compliances — flag deadlines, ensure documentation is in order, and coordinate with the payroll/finance team
• Support employee lifecycle administration — confirmation letters, exit formalities, experience letters, HRMS data hygiene
• Keep employee records, compliance trackers, and HR documentation audit-ready at all times What We're Looking For
• 2–3 years of experience in an HR/People role with hands-on exposure to both employee engagement and talent acquisition, ideally in a startup or fast-scaling company
• High emotional intelligence — you're perceptive, empathetic, and able to navigate sensitive conversations with maturity and discretion
• Strong communication skills — written and verbal. You can draft a compelling job post, run a town hall, and have a tough retention conversation, all in the same week
• Proven stakeholder management — you've worked across functions, managed hiring manager expectations, and influenced decisions without positional authority
• Sound judgement on people decisions — you know when to escalate, when to intervene, and when to let things play out
• Familiarity with PF, ESIC, Professional Tax, and general HR statutory compliance — you don't need to be a payroll specialist, but you should know what's due, when it's due, and what happens if it's missed
• Proficiency with HRMS tools (Keka, Zoho, Darwinbox, or similar) and sourcing platforms (LinkedIn Recruiter, Naukri, Instahyre)
• Detail-oriented and organised — able to juggle engagement calendars, open requisitions, and compliance deadlines without things falling through Bonus Points
• You've built an engagement programme from scratch, not just inherited and maintained one
• You've hired for both tech and non-tech roles in a startup environment
• You have payroll processing knowledge, salary computation, TDS on salaries, or month-end reconciliation experience
• You have experience with employer branding, LinkedIn content, campus connects, career page storytelling
• You naturally stay updated on labour law changes, HR best practices, and what top startups are doing differently with their people function
