Role purpose As our Solutions Architect, you'll be the technical bridge between our clients, our delivery engineers and our product team. You'll design secure, scalable and cost-effective solutions on cloud, hybrid and AI platforms, lead the technical side of client engagements from discovery to delivery, and help shape Anthrasec products based on real customer needs. This is a hands-on role at an early-stage company: you'll design solutions, build proofs of concept and influence how Anthrasec grows.

Key responsibilities
Solution design and architecture
• Turn business requirements into well-documented solution architectures across AWS, Azure, GCP and on-premises or hybrid environments.
• Design landing zones, network topologies, identity and access models, data platforms and disaster recovery strategies in line with the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
• Write and maintain architecture decision records, high and low-level designs, and reference architectures.
• Make sure every solution meets non-functional

requirements:
security, resilience, performance, scalability and cost. Client engagement and presales
• Lead technical discovery workshops with client stakeholders, from founders to IT managers.
• Produce technical proposals, statements of work, effort estimates and pricing inputs together with leadership.
• Run demos and proofs of concept,



and answer security questionnaires and requests for proposals.
• Be the trusted technical adviser on client accounts and find chances to improve and expand our work with them. AI and automation
• Design production-grade AI solutions using large language models: retrieval-augmented generation, agent and tool-use systems, guardrails, evaluation and monitoring.
• Advise clients on AI adoption: model choice (managed services such as Amazon Bedrock and Azure OpenAI, open-source or self-hosted), data privacy, cost control and responsible AI governance.
• Help define products's integration architecture with ITSM, observability, identity, hypervisor and cloud platforms. Security and compliance
• Build security into every design: zero trust, least privilege, segmentation, encryption, secrets management, logging and threat modelling.
• Map solutions to UK and international frameworks, including Cyber Essentials, ISO/IEC 27001, UK GDPR, NCSC guidance. Delivery and governance
• Hand designs over to delivery engineers with clear infrastructure-as-code patterns (OpenTofu or Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Provide design authority and assurance during delivery, and review changes against agreed architecture standards.
• Keep track of cloud costs and recommend FinOps improvements. Thought leadership and growth
• Contribute reference architectures, whitepapers and guides to Anthrasec's free resources hub.
• Represent Anthrasec at AWS Partner Network events, webinars and industry meetups.
• Mentor engineers and interns, and help build our architecture practice as the company grows. Essential skills
• Deep, hands-on AWS knowledge: VPC networking, IAM and Organizations, Control Tower, EC2, EKS and ECS, Lambda, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, GuardDuty and Security Hub.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365, including Entra ID, Intune and Conditional Access.
• Infrastructure as code with Terraform or OpenTofu, plus configuration management with Ansible.
• CI/CD and DevOps practice with GitHub Actions or GitLab CI, containers and Kubernetes.
• Strong networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, routing, VPNs, firewalls and hybrid connectivity.
• Solid security architecture knowledge: identity, zero trust, segmentation, encryption, and logging and monitoring.
• Able to produce clear architecture diagrams and documentation.
• Excellent communication skills,



with the ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders. AI skills
• Experience designing and deploying LLM-based applications: prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, vector databases, and agent or tool-calling patterns.
• Familiar with Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker, Azure OpenAI or self-hosted open-source models (for example through Hugging Face, Ollama or vLLM).
• Understands AI security and governance: prompt injection, data leakage, evaluation and red-teaming, the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications, and the UK AI Cyber Security Code of Practice.
• Able to judge cost, latency and accuracy trade-offs when choosing models and architectures. Desirable skills
• Experience with GCP.
• Virtualisation and on-premises platforms: VMware vSphere and ESXi, Proxmox, Hyper-V.
• Observability tools such as Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk or Elastic.
• ITSM and integrations: ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, and REST APIs or webhooks.
• Scripting or programming in Python, Go, TypeScript, Bash or PowerShell.
• Experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) or building integrations for AI agents.
• Knowledge of FinOps and cloud cost optimisation.
• Experience in regulated sectors such as healthcare, finance, education or the public sector. Qualifications
• Essential: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate.
• Highly desirable: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional.
• Desirable (any of): AWS Certified Security – Specialty, Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), CKA, HashiCorp Certified Terraform Associate, CISSP or CCSP, or an AWS or Azure AI certification.
• A degree in computer science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Personal attributes
