JOB DESCRIPTION OPTOMETRIST

Department: Retail Operations

Designation: Optometrist

Reporting To: Store Manager

Location: Optical Retail Showroom

1. Job Objective

To provide accurate eye examinations, recommend suitable vision correction solutions, and deliver excellent customer service while supporting showroom business objectives.

2. Key Responsibilities

Conduct eye examinations and perform accurate refraction.

Assess visual acuity and identify refractive errors.

Recommend suitable spectacles, lenses, and contact lenses.

Explain prescriptions, lens features, coatings, and available options.

Identify eye conditions requiring referral to an ophthalmologist.

Maintain accurate customer records and prescriptions.

Support sales conversion through ethical product recommendations.

Coordinate with the sales team for smooth order processing.

Maintain optometry equipment, hygiene, and clinical standards.





Achieve assigned examination and performance targets.

3. Educational Qualification

B.Optom / Diploma in Optometry from a recognized institution.

4. Experience

1–3 years in optical retail preferred.

Freshers may also apply.

5. Key Skills

Strong refraction and clinical knowledge.

Positive communication and customer-handling skills.

Knowledge of spectacle lenses and contact lenses.

Product recommendation and consultation skills.

Customer-focused and sales-oriented approach.

Number of eye examinations.

Prescription accuracy.

Eye examination to sales conversion.
