We are hiring an experienced legal professional for a leadership opportunity with a reputed diversified business group, offering exposure to sports franchise management, consumer businesses and strategic commercial partnerships.
Position: Corporate Legal (Sports Division)
Location: Mumbai
Work Mode: Work from Office (No Hybrid)
Working: 2 Saturdays per month
Experience: 5+ Years
About the Organization
Our client is an established diversified financial services group with business interests across lending, financial services and emerging business sectors. The organization is expanding its footprint in sports and consumer businesses through strategic brand associations, commercial collaborations and sports franchise initiatives.
The Role
We are seeking a proactive In-House Legal Counsel who can provide end-to-end legal support for commercial and business-related matters.
This position is exclusively focused on non-litigation activities, with a strong emphasis on contract drafting, negotiations, legal risk management and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead drafting, reviewing and negotiation of commercial contracts, including sponsorship, endorsement, player/coach, media, licensing, vendor and partnership agreements.
- Manage agreements with athletes, coaches, teams, leagues, sponsors, agencies and business associates.
- Provide legal assistance for sports events, tournaments, promotional activities and brand campaigns.
- Handle intellectual property, trademarks, image rights, branding, digital content and social media-related agreements.
- Support consumer durable partnerships, product collaborations,
co-branding and retail/channel arrangements.
- Negotiate critical commercial terms such as indemnity, liability, confidentiality, exclusivity, payment, warranties and termination clauses.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders across Sports, Marketing, Business Development, Finance, Procurement and Operations.
- Assess contractual and commercial risks and ensure adherence to applicable laws and company policies.
- Manage the complete contract lifecycle, including execution, renewals, compliance and documentation.
- Coordinate with external legal advisors and consultants on corporate, commercial and regulatory matters.
Candidate Profile
- LL.B. or equivalent law degree from a recognized university.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in an In-House Legal role.
- Experience in Consumer Durable, Cosmetics or Sports Management companies.
- Strong hands-on experience in non-litigation matters and commercial contract drafting.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, communication and analytical skills.
- Strong understanding of corporate law, commercial agreements and regulatory compliance.
Relevant Regulatory Knowledge:
Exposure to the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, CDSCO/DCGI regulations, BIS Act, Legal Metrology Act and Consumer Protection Act will be an added advantage.
