About the role
It is into wastewater treatement with electricity instead of chemicals. Our patented ElectroX reactor sits at the heart of the sewage and effluent treatment plants we design, manufacture and commission in India and abroad. Every plant starts as a process design design basis, mass balance, process sizing and P&ID; — and every layout, pipe, panel and purchase is built on it.
The Process Engineer owns that process. The role exists so that every plant leaves Design & Engineering with a process that is complete on day 7 and does not change after release — and so that the plant, once built, meets its outlet on the first run.
Role
Your role is to design the process for every sewage and effluent treatment plant delivers and to issue the process package — design basis, mass balance, process calculations, P&ID;, equipment list and technical submittal — by day 7 of purchase order. You answer every technical query from site, clients and vendors within two working days, and you review the process design in Sales proposals before a PO is accepted, sending your observations to the Design Manager.
What success looks like
You will be measured on a published scorecard. In outline:
First six months — the process package runs on the clock. Every current purchase order’s process package issued complete by day 7. Zero process changes after release. Every technical query answered within two working days. ElectroX sizing learned and signed off on your own packages.
Twelve months — process designs are built as released. Twenty or more process packages in the year, all by day 7. Zero process changes after release. Zero commissioning failures traced to process design. A standard process library for STPs and ETPs in use.
Responsibilities
1.
Issue the process package. By day 7 of purchase order, for every STP and ETP: design basis, mass balance, process sizing calculations, P&ID;, equipment list with duty points and technical submittal. A partial issue is not an issue.
Freeze the process. Design so that nothing in the process changes after release. STPs and ETPs alike are expected to run like clockwork; a change counts against the process design unless the client changes the design basis.
Hand over to the engineers. Give the mechanical and E&I; engineers the duty points, line sizes and control requirements they need to hold their day-12 clock.

1.
Answer technical queries. From site, clients and vendors — in writing, within two working days, logged.
Review proposals before PO. Review the process design in Sales proposals and send written observations to the Design Manager within two working days. You review; Sales owns the proposal.
Learn and size ElectroX. It’s proprietary electrochemical reactor. You will be trained on it and will size it on your own packages.
Build the standards. Standard design-basis sheets, mass-balance templates and P&IDs; for the STP and ETP ranges, so every repeat is faster. Be the process reference when your plants are commissioned and feed every finding back into them.
What we look for (attitude first)
We hire for attitude, not just skill. Skills can be taught; attitude cannot. The right candidate demonstrates:
.
Self-initiative — has built a mass-balance template, a design-basis checklist or a standard P&ID; without being asked to
A hardworking approach — clears a backlog of queries personally, in order of site date
A self-starting mindset — issues on the date, and owns a process change instead of blaming the client
Critical and analytical thinking — does a mass balance on paper and knows which data is missing before designing
And, specific to this role: would rather ask one more question on day 2 than change a P&ID; on day 30.
Desired candidate profile
.
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering; a Master’s is a plus
5plus years in water and wastewater process design with an ETP / STP EPC, a design house or a packaged-plant OEM
Process packages issued for 8 or more plants that were built — both STPs and ETPs, 20–1,000 KLD
Hands-on with mass balance, unit sizing and P&IDs;, by hand as well as in software
Has answered site, client and vendor queries on own designs, and supported commissioning of a plant they designed
Competencies required
.
Biological treatment: ASP / extended aeration, SBR, MBBR, MBR — sizing, oxygen demand and blower air
Physico-chemical treatment: equalisation, neutralisation, coagulation–flocculation, clarifiers, DAF, sludge handling
Tertiary and recycle: filtration, adsorption, disinfection; exposure to RO / ZLD is a plus
Hydraulics: pump and line sizing, hydraulic profile
P&IDs; to ISA symbols, equipment datasheets and technical submittals; reads AutoCAD drawings
