Manager, Testing & Analysis Services
Job Description | Prayoga, Bangalore
PositionManager, Testing & Analysis ServicesLocationBangalore, on-siteReports toDirector of Research[SS1]TypeFull-timeAbout Prayoga
Prayoga is a Bangalore-based research organisation working in science education and scientific research. Alongside this work, Prayoga offers analytical testing to external clients from its own laboratories.
This role leads Prayoga's testing and analysis services end to end.
The role
We are looking for an experienced testing-lab professional to own Prayoga's testing and analysis services, from the first client conversation to the signed test report. You will understand what clients need, run the labs and the technician team, and keep every test within an ISO/IEC 17025 (NABL) quality system.
You will be technically strong in instrumental analysis, at ease with clients, and practised in running an accredited lab. Experience of taking a lab through NABL accreditation, or of leading its assessments, is a strong advantage. You will also help grow the testing service into a self-sustaining business.
Key responsibilities
Clients and business
Be the technical front end for clients: understand their samples, purpose and regulatory needs, and recommend the right tests and methods.
Review requests, tenders and contracts for technical feasibility, capacity and turnaround before accepting work.
Prepare quotations, scopes of work and timelines with the finance team.
¢ Communicate results and interpretations clearly, and handle client queries and complaints to closure.
¢ Build repeat business and identify new testing services, sectors and partnerships.
Laboratory operations
¢ Plan and run day-to-day lab work: sample receipt, registration, chain of custody, scheduling, testing and reporting.
¢ Own turnaround time, throughput and data integrity across all tests.
¢ Review and approve test reports; act as an authorised signatory once approved.
¢ Manage instruments end to end: qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), calibration, preventive maintenance, AMCs and vendor service.
¢ Manage consumables, reference standards, CRMs, reagents and inventory.
¢ Ensure lab safety, chemical handling, waste disposal and housekeeping.
Quality system and NABL
¢ Implement and maintain a quality management system to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and NABL requirements.
¢ Lead NABL accreditation, scope extension,
surveillance and reassessment; prepare for and host assessments and close non-conformities.
¢ Develop, validate and verify test methods to national and international standards (BIS, ISO, ASTM, AOAC, USP/IP, EPA, FSSAI as relevant).
¢ Estimate measurement uncertainty and maintain metrological traceability.
¢ Plan proficiency testing and inter-laboratory comparisons, and act on the results.
¢ Run internal audits, management reviews, CAPA, document control and records management.
Team
¢ Lead, recruit, train and assess technicians and analysts; maintain competence and authorisation records.
¢ Set daily priorities, review work and build a culture of accuracy, safety and ownership.
Planning and reporting
¢ Prepare the testing service's annual plan and budget, covering revenue, costs, capital equipment and staffing.
¢ Report monthly to leadership on revenue, turnaround, quality indicators and client feedback.
¢ Advise on new instruments, capabilities and lab expansion.
Qualifications and experience
Essential
¢ M.Sc. or M.Tech in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Food Technology, Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related field, or equivalent experience.
¢ [10+] [SS2]years in an analytical testing laboratory, with at least [35] years leading a lab, section or team.
¢ Hands-on working experience in an NABL-accredited (ISO/IEC 17025) laboratory.
¢ Strong practical command of chromatography, mass spectrometry and elemental analysis (see Instruments below).
¢ Proven method development, validation and verification, including measurement uncertainty.
¢ Experience dealing directly with clients on test requirements and results.
Desirable
¢ Has taken a lab through initial NABL accreditation or scope extension, or has served as Quality Manager or Technical Manager.
¢ NABL / ISO/IEC 17025 internal auditor or assessor training.
¢ Ph.D. in an analytical science.
¢ Experience in food, pharmaceutical, environmental, water or materials testing.
¢ Familiarity with GLP, LIMS, 21 CFR Part 11 data-integrity practice,
and chromatography data systems.
¢ Experience of costing tests, preparing quotations and building a client base.
Instruments and techniques

[SS1]Executive Chairman?
[SS2]Can we make it 5+ years? Someone with PhD in analytical science and then 5+ years in the lab automatically have around 10+ years. In any case, people with 10+ years are still eligible to apply.
