Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced System Engineer for the Desert Loco program, with in-depth knowledge of locomotive systems and sub-systems. The role covers design, verification and validation of sub-systems with a focus on sealing, RAMS and environmental safety regulations, and includes ownership of key CTQs delivery, schedule and quality across teams in multiple business units.

Openings are available in three specializations: Platforms, Engine and Cabs.

Specialization-Specific Requirements Platforms

- Design specific to handling, sealing, RAMS and environmental safety regulations.
- Experience in sub-system integration Trucks, Traction Motors, Fuel Systems, Cabs / Sheet Metal.
- Experience in design, verification, FEA, hand calculations and PPAP.
- Rail experience preferred
- Automotive / Heavy Industries experience is good.
- 12+ years of experience in sub-system / component design & development of Locomotive / Automobile / Heavy Industries.

Engine

- Engine / Propulsion design specific to sealing, RAMS and environmental safety regulations.
- Experience with upper powertrain components for engines and the Sand Filter Box including air filters, lubrication system, cooling system, structural integration and controls.




- Experience in developing system functional specifications and requirements, verification, validation, FEA, CFD, RAMS and PPAP.
- Experience with the conductive nature of the sand and iron-ore mix environment.
- 15+ years of experience in sub-system / component design & development in the engine division of Locomotive / Automobile / Heavy Industries.

Cabs

- Cab design specific to handling, sealing, RAMS and environmental safety regulations.
- Experience in sealing design.
- Experience with sub-systems such as Main Cab, Aux Cab, Blower Cab, Engine Cab and Rad Cab.
- Experience in design, verification, FEA, hand calculations and PPAP.
- 12+ years of experience in sub-system / component design & development of Locomotive / Automobile / Heavy Industries.

Common Technical Skills (All Specializations)

- In-depth knowledge of Loco, including strong knowledge of systems and sub-systems.
- Strong GD&T;, tolerance stack-up and DFA / DFM / DFS.
- Ability to interpret FEA analysis reports.
- Experience on NPI projects, fixture design & development, structural calculations, bolted-joint and weld-joint calculations.
- Good knowledge of the recent component introduction process,



FMEA and component validation.
- Strong knowledge of industry codes and engineering standards such as ASME, ISO and European standards.
- Ability to generate manufacturing drawings (sheet metal, castings, forgings, welding) with GD&T; applied as applicable.
- Shop-floor experience in sheet metal, casting, forging, metal-joining techniques (bolting, welding, riveting) and plastics.
- Ability to analyze shop issues and provide solutions.
- Experience in concept generation using idea-generation methods.
- Focus on value addition and cost savings beyond customer expectations, such as Poka-Yoke methods.

Key Responsibilities &

- Experience

- Own key CTQs delivery, schedule and quality for all teams within multiple business units.
- Handle customers across multiple geographies, meeting their respective processes and standards.
- Work with cross-functional teams of Designers, Engineers, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Field Service and external consulting engineering teams.
- Act as checker / reviewer / SME (minimum 8+ years of experience).
- Attend and present in meetings scheduled with functional managers, CFT and toll-gate reviews.

Tools

- Multi-CAD experience: NX / Catia / SolidWorks / Creo.
- NX experience preferred.
