Senior Enterprise Architect Are you ready to shape the future of enterprise architecture at one of the world's leading re/insurance groups? Do you thrive at the intersection of strategy, technology and enterprise-scale transformation? If so, this is your opportunity to make a lasting impact.
About the Role
Swiss Re is looking for a Senior Enterprise Architect to join Group Enterprise Architecture in Bangalore. This is a high-impact senior individual contributor role where you will set architectural direction, drive enterprise-wide governance and enablement, and influence strategic decisions across business and technology domains. You will operate as a trusted advisor to architecture leadership and senior stakeholders, leading complex cross-domain initiatives from strategy through to measurable outcomes — building scalable, automated and intelligent architecture capabilities that accelerate decision-making across the Group.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture Strategy, Tooling & Digital Enablement
• Set architectural direction and lead the roadmap for enterprise architecture tooling, workflows, decision intelligence and self-service capabilities, aligned to Group priorities
• Architect and steer integration of architecture repositories and enterprise information sources, establishing scalable approaches to traceability, interoperability, quality and trustworthy insights
• Sponsor and guide high-value automation, AI-assisted assessments and knowledge-driven decision support from proof of value through to controlled enterprise adoption
• Establish sustainable capability ownership, prioritization, architecture guardrails, adoption measures and continuous improvement across the enablement portfolio Enterprise Process Transformation & Operational Excellence
• Lead end-to-end redesign of architecture operating processes across domains, removing systemic bottlenecks, fragmented accountability and avoidable manual effort
• Define risk-proportionate architecture intake, assessments, endorsements, reviews, exception management and decision records with clear ownership and controls
• Set performance baselines and improvement targets for decision cycle time, automation coverage, productivity, quality and stakeholder outcomes
• Institutionalize learning loops that convert recurring findings and delivery lessons into preventive controls, reusable knowledge and enterprise-wide improvements Architecture Governance, Standards & Decision Leadership
• Advise and influence senior stakeholders and Design Authority forums on strategic architecture choices, material risks, cross-domain dependencies and escalation decisions
• Shape and evolve enterprise architecture principles, target-state guidance, reference architectures and decision criteria, balancing standardization with business agility
• Lead evidence-based architecture assessments and challenge proposals on strategic fit, resilience, security, integration, sustainability and total cost of ownership
• Champion architecture information ownership, quality, provenance, lifecycle governance and change control to strengthen confidence and auditability of decisions Enterprise Influence, Community Leadership & Change
• Build alignment across business domains, platform and engineering teams,
data owners, risk functions and senior leadership to drive common outcomes and reuse
• Lead complex stakeholder engagements, resolve competing priorities and secure adoption of new architecture capabilities and governance practices
• Mentor Enterprise Architects and domain peers, raising architecture practice maturity through coaching, reviews and reusable methods
• Communicate strategic recommendations, delivery progress, trade-offs and quantified business impact in clear, executive-ready language Strategic Architecture Delivery & Enterprise Feedback
• Provide senior architecture leadership, design assurance or intervention for selected high-impact, ambiguous or cross-domain transformation initiatives
• Own resolution of complex architectural issues and guide decisions where competing business, technology, risk and cost objectives must be reconciled
• Convert strategic delivery insights into improvements in enterprise standards, knowledge, tools and governance rather than isolated project-specific solutions About the Team Group Enterprise Architecture at Swiss Re is the function responsible for setting and stewarding the enterprise-wide architectural direction across business and technology domains. The team partners with senior leadership, governance forums and domain stakeholders to ensure that architecture decisions are strategic, consistent and aligned to Swiss Re's transformation ambitions. With a strong focus on enablement, automation and governance excellence, the team drives scalable architecture capabilities that support faster, more confident and more resilient decision-making across the Group. About You You are a seasoned architecture leader who combines deep technical expertise with strategic thinking and strong interpersonal influence. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, challenging the status quo constructively and driving enterprise-scale change without relying on formal authority. You bring a continuous-improvement mindset, a passion for scalable and intelligent architecture capabilities, and the ability to translate complex trade-offs into clear, executive-ready recommendations. We are looking for candidates who meet these
requirements:
• 10+ years of experience in enterprise or solution architecture, technology transformation or architecture governance, including substantial leadership of complex, cross-domain initiatives in large organizations
• Deep expertise in enterprise architecture methods, governance frameworks, architecture repositories, information models, integration patterns and technology risk and trade-off assessment
• Proven track record of modernizing architecture processes and capabilities through automation, data-driven decision support and scalable tooling, with demonstrable measurable business outcomes
• Strong experience influencing senior stakeholders and Design Authority forums,
driving strategic architecture decisions and resolving systemic architecture risks across diverse organizational domains
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent practical experience These are additional nice to haves:
• Experience evaluating or implementing AI/GenAI, knowledge graphs, agentic workflows or advanced analytics, with strong attention to security, reliability and controls
• Background in re/insurance or financial services environments
• TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification
• Relevant certifications in cloud, data, automation, AI or governance
• Experience with enterprise-level systems thinking and navigating complex organizational dependencies at scale
• Fluent written and spoken English; solid facilitation, negotiation and change leadership skills across diverse architecture and delivery communities Why Join Swiss Re?
