Key Responsibilities

- Conduct load/demand forecasting using historical demand patterns, weather parameters, system conditions, and other relevant inputs.

- Undertake Renewable Energy (RE) forecasting, particularly for solar and wind generation, and support forecasting and scheduling activities.

- Support day-ahead and real-time power scheduling based on demand forecasts, generation availability, contracted power, and system requirements.

- Undertake Energy Portfolio Management (EPM) and assess demand-supply positions for optimum utilization of available power resources.

- Perform demand-supply gap analysis and recommend measures to manage anticipated power surplus or deficit.

- Support power trading and market operations, including bidding and scheduling through Day-Ahead Market (DAM), Term-Ahead Market (TAM), and Real-Time Market (RTM).

- Facilitate intraday/real-time power procurement based on system requirements and conduct cost-benefit analysis for economical power procurement.

- Support power sale and purchase strategies considering Merit Order Dispatch (MOD), demand-supply position, market prices, and available generation resources.

- Undertake power price forecasting and market analysis to support short-term power procurement and sale decisions.

- Monitor Over-Drawal/Under-Drawal (OD/UD) and support operational measures to minimize deviations and associated DSM implications.

- Carry out Deviation Settlement Mechanism (DSM) calculations and analyse deviations between scheduled and actual drawal/injection.





- Coordinate back-down and revision of power schedules based on system demand, generation availability, market conditions, and operational requirements.

- Monitor generation and demand schedules and coordinate scheduling/revision activities with SLDCs, generators, load dispatch centres, and other stakeholders.

- Monitor SCADA and real-time operational data, including data received through FTP or other designated data-exchange systems.

- Coordinate with site personnel for real-time plant status, generation data validation, and operational updates.

- Analyse actual renewable generation against forecasted generation and support corrective measures to improve forecasting and scheduling accuracy.

- Undertake data analysis, operational analysis, MIS preparation, and periodic reporting related to demand, generation, scheduling, deviations, market transactions, and energy portfolio performance.

- Support analysis of applicable renewable energy policies, scheduling regulations, DSM provisions, and power-market regulations relevant to SLDC operations.

- Coordinate with generators, RE developers, power exchanges, SLDCs, RLDCs, DISCOMs, and other stakeholders for smooth execution of forecasting, scheduling, and power-market activities.

- Support shift-based real-time operational activities, resource allocation, and timely resolution of operational issues.

- Prepare technical reports, management reports, operational summaries, analytical statements, and MIS for review and decision-making.
