Scrum Master II (Delivery & Release Lead)

The Scrum Master II owns end-to-end delivery for 2–3 sprint teams: from quarterly planning, through sprint execution, to a controlled production release. The role blends Scrum facilitation, project management and release management, and uses approved AI tools to cut coordination overhead so time goes to planning quality, risk and release outcomes. Decisions, commitments and accountability stay with people.

In This Role, You Will:

- Own the integrated delivery plan for your teams: outcome-based milestones, capacity, critical path and cross-team dependencies, kept current in Jira and Confluence and aligned to the Cvent release calendar.
- Lead quarterly/PI and release planning across teams; publish commitments and dependencies and track them through the quarter.
- Run scope and change control: quantify the impact of changes on dates, capacity and quality, and get decisions from the right owner before teams commit.
- Own risk and dependency management with named owners and due dates; drive mitigations and escalate with a recommendation.
- Own release readiness and go/no-go with Product, Engineering, QA and SRE: test sign-off, security and performance checks, feature flags, rollback plan, support enablement and release communications; follow the change-management process and keep records audit-ready.
- Coordinate deployments and post-release monitoring; run post-release reviews on escaped defects, incidents and rollbacks, and drive the fixes.
- Facilitate sprint events for 2–3 teams so they stay short and decision-oriented; remove impediments and escalate systemic ones with proposed fixes.
- Coach teams and Product Owners on backlog health, sprint goals,

definition of done and sustainable pace; step back where teams are mature.
- Use flow, release and project metrics (cycle time, throughput, work-item age, escaped defects, change-failure rate, release lead time, scope variance, forecast ranges) for planning and improvement, not for ranking people or velocity quotas.
- Apply approved AI tools and bounded agents to high-friction work: status synthesis, meeting follow-through, risk and dependency sensing, release-note drafting, reporting. Define each use case problem-first with clear data access, limits and human decision points; pilot with Engineering, Security, Privacy and AI-governance partners and stop when evidence does not show value.
- Coach teams on approved tools, output verification and transparent AI use; protect human judgment in prioritization, commitments, performance conversations and go/no-go calls.
- Report delivery status to senior stakeholders in short, evidence-based narratives: outcomes, forecast confidence, scope variance, risks and decisions needed, separating facts, estimates and AI-generated suggestions.
- Mentor less-experienced Scrum Masters and share reusable planning, release and AI-use practices.

Here's What You Need:

- 5+ years in software delivery, including 2+ years as a Scrum Master, project manager or release manager for engineering teams, with impact across multiple teams or a complex product.
- Hands-on experience with integrated planning, scope and change control, risk and dependency management and stakeholder reporting.
- Hands-on release management for a SaaS product: release calendars, readiness criteria, go/no-go, change management, rollback and post-release reviews.
- Working knowledge of CI/CD, environments, feature flags and incident processes, enough to plan releases credibly with SRE/DevOps and QA.
- Robust command of Scrum and experience running quarterly or PI planning across teams.
- Uses delivery metrics to forecast responsibly and can explain their limits.
- Applied AI literacy: has scoped and run at least one AI or agent-assisted delivery workflow, can test outputs, spot failure modes and define human oversight.
- Strong facilitation, influencing and conflict-resolution skills; leads through ambiguity without taking accountability from teams or Product Owners.
- Concise written and spoken communication, including executive status reporting.
- Day-to-day fluency with Jira and Confluence, including dashboards and JQL reporting
