Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Electrical / Chemical Engineering or equivalent.

Job PurposeTo lead and manage the overall Operations & Maintenance (O&M;) of a Waste-to-Energy (WTE) plant, ensuring efficient plant operations, maximum availability, optimum power generation, effective waste processing, equipment reliability, cost optimization and compliance with statutory and environmental regulations.

Key Roles & Responsibilities1. Overall Plant Operations

- Lead and manage day-to-day operations of the Waste-to-Energy plant.
- Ensure smooth and uninterrupted plant operations as per defined capacity and performance parameters.
- Monitor waste processing, segregation, feeding, combustion and power generation activities.
- Ensure achievement of plant availability, operational efficiency and power generation targets.
- Monitor plant performance through operational KPIs and implement improvement measures.

2. Maintenance Management

- Oversee preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of plant machinery and equipment.
- Ensure maximum equipment availability and minimize plant downtime.
- Manage maintenance of boilers, turbines, generators, conveyors, cranes, shredders, material handling systems and auxiliary equipment.
- Develop annual maintenance plans, shutdown schedules and maintenance budgets.
- Ensure timely availability of critical spares and effective vendor management.

3. Waste Processing & Power Generation





- Ensure effective handling and processing of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW).
- Monitor waste quality, calorific value, moisture content and feed consistency.
- Ensure efficient combustion and steam generation.
- Monitor boiler performance, turbine efficiency and electricity generation.
- Identify opportunities to improve plant efficiency and optimize fuel and energy consumption.

4. Team & Manpower Management

- Lead and manage operations, maintenance, electrical, mechanical and instrumentation teams.
- Define responsibilities and monitor team performance.
- Ensure adequate manpower deployment and technical training.
- Build a culture of operational excellence, safety and accountability.

5. Safety & Environmental Compliance

- Ensure compliance with CPCB, SPCB, environmental and pollution control regulations.
- Monitor emissions, ash handling, wastewater treatment and other environmental parameters.
- Ensure implementation of HSE policies and safe working practices.
- Coordinate statutory inspections, audits and regulatory requirements.

6. Budget & Cost Management

- Prepare and manage annual O&M; budgets.
- Control operational and maintenance costs.
- Monitor consumables, spare parts,



manpower and energy costs.
- Optimize plant operating expenses without compromising safety and performance.

7. Stakeholder & Management Coordination

- Coordinate with municipal corporations, government authorities, technology providers and contractors.
- Review plant performance and submit periodic MIS reports to senior management.
- Handle operational challenges and ensure timely resolution of plant-related issues.

Desired Candidate Profile
- 15–20 years of relevant experience in Operations & Maintenance of Waste-to-Energy plants, MSW processing facilities or power plants.
- Strong hands-on experience in WTE plant operations and maintenance.
- Experience in boiler, turbine, generator, combustion systems and material handling equipment.
- Knowledge of preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance.
- Experience in managing plant capacity, power generation, plant availability and operational KPIs.
- Solid knowledge of environmental, safety and statutory compliance.
- Proven experience in leading large technical and operational teams.
- Candidates with direct experience in MSW-based WTE plant O&M; will be strongly preferred.
