Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced PM Technical SME with strong expertise in maintenance planning, work preparation, preventive maintenance optimization, and SAP-PM.

The successful candidate will act as a technical subject matter expert for complex Preventive Maintenance (PM) and assigned Corrective Maintenance (CM) planning activities. The role will focus on ensuring the technical quality and execution readiness of maintenance work packs, optimizing maintenance strategies, maintaining high-quality SAP-PM planning data, and driving standardization and continuous improvement across maintenance planning processes.

The position also requires strong analytical and stakeholder-management capabilities, along with the ability to coach and guide maintenance planners in resolving complex technical and planning issues.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Planning & Technical Assurance

- Provide technical guidance and SME support for complex Preventive Maintenance (PM) and assigned Corrective Maintenance (CM) planning activities.
- Review complex maintenance work orders, job plans, and work packs for technical completeness, accuracy, and execution readiness.
- Ensure maintenance work packs clearly define job scope, sequence of activities, resources, tools, materials, and technical requirements.
- Verify the inclusion of applicable maintenance procedures, operating instructions, isolations, permits, safety requirements, materials, external services, and compliance requirements.
- Identify planning deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions to ensure work is ready for safe and efficient execution.
- Support planners in resolving complex technical and maintenance-planning issues through closure.

Preventive Maintenance Strategy & Optimization
- Review and optimize PM plans, task lists, job plans, maintenance frequencies, and maintenance strategies.
- Maintain and improve controlled libraries of standard maintenance job plans and task lists.
- Analyze PM effectiveness and identify opportunities to eliminate duplicate, ineffective, or unnecessary maintenance activities.
- Recommend changes to maintenance frequencies and task content based on equipment history, failure patterns, operating conditions, criticality, and execution feedback.
- Support continuous improvement of maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency.

SAP-PM & Master Data Governance
- Provide SME-level guidance for SAP Plant Maintenance (SAP-PM) planning processes.
- Review and maintain planning-related SAP-PM objects, including:




- Maintenance plans and maintenance items
- General and equipment task lists
- Work orders
- Maintenance notifications
- Equipment and functional locations
- Equipment and material BOMs
- Maintenance history and planning data
- Ensure SAP-PM master data is complete, accurate, standardized, and aligned with approved maintenance strategies.
- Support governance of controlled Z6 changes in line with applicable processes and standards.
- Identify SAP-PM data-quality issues and coordinate corrective actions with relevant stakeholders.

Reliability & Continuous Improvement
- Analyze maintenance execution history, equipment failures, repeat maintenance activities, work-order feedback, and failure trends to identify improvement opportunities.
- Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring maintenance and equipment issues.
- Translate lessons learned and field feedback into improvements to maintenance plans, task lists, job plans, and work-pack standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve planning quality, maintenance effectiveness, resource utilization, and execution efficiency.
- Drive standardization and continuous improvement across maintenance-planning processes.

Technical Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Coach and mentor maintenance planners on planning best practices, work-pack quality, SAP-PM processes, and technical problem-solving.
- Act as an escalation point for complex maintenance-planning and work-preparation issues.
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, Reliability, Engineering, Materials, Procurement, and HSE stakeholders to resolve planning constraints and technical issues.
- Communicate technical recommendations effectively and ensure agreed actions are followed through to closure.
- Promote consistent application of maintenance-planning standards and governance requirements.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- BE/B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in maintenance planning, work preparation, maintenance engineering, or a similar function.
- Strong hands-on experience with SAP-PM and maintenance planning processes.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and reviewing PM plans, task lists, work orders, work packs, BOMs, notifications, and standard job plans.
- Strong understanding of Preventive Maintenance and Corrective Maintenance planning methodologies.
- Experience in SAP-PM master-data management and maintenance-data quality improvement.
- Ability to analyze maintenance execution history, failure patterns, and field feedback to recommend planning improvements.
- Strong technical review, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Valuable communication, technical coaching, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering, maintenance, operations, and reliability teams.

Preferred Experience Candidates with the following experience will be preferred:
- Experience in Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical, Chemical, Power, Manufacturing, or other asset-intensive/process industries.
- Experience working in large-scale maintenance organizations using SAP-PM.
- Exposure to maintenance strategy optimization, equipment criticality, RCA, reliability improvement, and failure analysis.
- Experience developing and governing standard maintenance job-plan and task-list libraries.
- Experience supporting maintenance-planning improvement or transformation initiatives.

Candidate Profile We are particularly interested in candidates who:
- Have strong hands-on maintenance-planning experience rather than only SAP functional/configuration exposure.
- Can independently review and challenge technically complex work packs.
- Understand the relationship between maintenance strategy, equipment reliability, SAP-PM master data, and field execution.
- Can identify planning gaps and recommend practical solutions.
- Have experience coaching or technically guiding maintenance planners.
- Are comfortable working with multiple engineering disciplines and stakeholders.
