About the Role
We are seeking an experienced PLC Software Engineer to design, develop, and support industrial automation systems using Siemens TIA Portal and National Instruments LabVIEW. The ideal candidate will bridge control system programming with test and measurement automation, working across manufacturing, process control, and equipment integration projects.
Position - PLC Software Engineer TIA Portal & LabVIEW
Location – Ambernath
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and debug PLC programs using Siemens TIA Portal (S7-1200/1500 series) for automated manufacturing and process control systems
- Develop test automation software, data acquisition systems, and instrument control applications using
LabVIEW
- Create and maintain HMI/SCADA interfaces (WinCC, WinCC Unified, or similar) for operator control and monitoring
- Integrate PLCs with sensors, actuators, drives, and third-party instrumentation via industrial communication protocols (PROFINET, PROFIBUS, Modbus TCP/RTU, EtherNet/IP, OPC UA)
- Develop and execute functional test plans, FAT/SAT documentation, and validation protocols
- Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues on the plant floor, including live debugging and root-cause analysis
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and process engineering teams to translate process requirements into control logic
- Develop and maintain technical documentation including I/O lists, control narratives, software architecture diagrams, and version control records
- Support commissioning and startup activities at customer or manufacturing sites, including occasional travel
- Implement safety-rated control logic in compliance with relevant standards (e.g., ISO 13849, IEC 61508/61511 , NFPA 79)
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to standardized programming templates and libraries
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field ( or equivalent practical experience )
- 6+ years of hands-on experience programming PLCs in Siemens TIA Portal
- Working proficiency in LabVIEW for test automation, data acquisition, or instrument control applications
- Solid understanding of ladder logic, structured text (SCL), and function block programming
- Experience with industrial networking protocols (PROFINET, Modbus, EtherNet/IP, OPC UA)
- Familiarity with HMI/SCADA development (WinCC or equivalent)
- Robust troubleshooting skills with electrical schematics and control panel wiring
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs;, electrical drawings, and control narratives
Preferred Qualifications
- Siemens TIA Portal certification(s)
- Certified LabVIEW Associate/Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLAD/CLD)
- Experience with robotics integration (KUKA, FANUC, ABB) or motion control systems
- Familiarity with SQL databases, MES/ERP integration, or Industry 4.0/IIoT platforms
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN) for software configuration management
- Knowledge of functional safety design and safety PLC programming
- Experience in a regulated industry (pharmaceutical, automotive, food & beverage, or semiconductor)
