We are seeking a talented and motivated MBD Test Engineer to join our Bangalore engineering team and ensure the quality and reliability of the embedded application software developed with a Model-Based Design (MBD) process.

Position Summary The MBD Test Engineer will be responsible for the verification and validation of the application software components of the AC battery system, developed in MATLAB/Simulink following a Model-Based Design process.

Working closely with control and software developers, the successful candidate will define test strategies, write test specifications, build test harnesses, and execute requirements-based tests at model and code level (MIL, SIL, PIL, HIL) on functions such as control laws, state machines, mode management, protections, and diagnostics. The role covers the complete verification cycle, from requirements review and test design through test automation, coverage analysis, defect tracking, and test reporting, in close collaboration with system architects, control, embedded software, electronics, and validation teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Review software and component requirements for testability, consistency, and completeness, and contribute to their clarification with development teams.
- Define the test strategy and write test specifications and test cases for the application software components developed in MATLAB/Simulink (control functions, state machines, mode management, protections, diagnostics).
- Develop test harnesses, stimuli, and expected results, and execute requirements-based unit and integration tests at model level (MIL)



and code level (SIL/PIL).
- Perform back-to-back testing between models and generated code, and analyse structural coverage (decision, condition, MC/DC) to identify untested or dead functionality.
- Support HIL test activities and test-data analysis to verify the behaviour of the software components on the embedded target and in the system environment.
- Run static model and code verification, such as modelling guideline checks, model reviews, and static code analysis.
- Automate test execution and reporting with MATLAB and/or Python scripts and integrate tests into the continuous integration pipeline.
- Ensure bidirectional traceability between requirements, models, test cases, and test results.
- Report, analyse, and track defects, and verify their correction through regression testing.
- Document test plans, test procedures, test reports, coverage results, limitations, and remaining risks.
- Work closely with architecture, control, embedded software, electronics, validation, and systems engineering teams.

Required Qualifications

Education

- Engineering degree or equivalent experience in embedded systems, control systems, electrical, electronics, computer science, automotive, or a related field.

Experience

- Minimum 5 years of industrial experience in embedded software verification and validation, ideally within a Model-Based Design setting. Experience in automotive, aerospace, energy, industrial automation, or another safety-critical domain would be highly relevant.

Technical Skills

- Practical experience testing functions developed in MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow.
- Hands-on experience with MBD verification tools such as Simulink Test,



Simulink Coverage, Simulink Design Verifier, Model Advisor, or equivalent tools (e.g. BTC EmbeddedPlatform, TPT).
- Good knowledge of software testing techniques: requirements-based testing, equivalence classes, boundary values, fault injection, regression testing, and structural coverage (MC/DC).
- Experience with MIL, SIL, PIL, and HIL test workflows and automatic code generation (Embedded Coder).
- Scripting skills in MATLAB and/or Python for test automation and analysis of logs, simulation results, and test data.
- Understanding of embedded C code, modelling guidelines (e.g. MAB/JMAAB), and static code analysis (e.g. MISRA C, Polyspace) would be highly appreciated.
- Familiarity with requirements management and traceability tools, configuration management (Git), defect tracking (e.g. Jira), and CI tools (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab CI) would be appreciated.
- Knowledge of functional safety and software development standards (e.g. IEC 61508, ISO 26262, Automotive SPICE) would be a strong plus.
- Basic understanding of control systems, power electronics, or battery management systems would be a plus.
