Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Manager - Legal to lead our Title Verification and Property Legal Due Diligence team in Tamil Nadu. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in land and real estate documentation, title verification, property due diligence, and legal opinions, along with proven team management and client-handling skills.

The candidate will be responsible for managing a team of 45 legal professionals, ensuring the accuracy and quality of legal reports, meeting defined Turnaround Time (TAT) requirements, and ensuring compliance with client-specific policies and applicable state regulations.

Key Responsibilities

- Team Management: Lead, guide, and manage a team of 45 legal professionals handling title verification and property legal due diligence assignments.
- Title Verification & Legal Opinions: Review, prepare, and supervise comprehensive Title Opinions and Legal Verification Reports using the Maatrum technology platform.
- Property Due Diligence: Oversee the verification and analysis of land and real estate documents, including ownership records, title deeds, encumbrances, revenue records, and registration documents.
- Quality Control: Review legal reports prepared by team members to ensure accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with internal quality standards and client-specific requirements.
- TAT & Productivity Management: Monitor team productivity, allocation of assignments, report quality, and turnaround times to ensure timely delivery.
- Client Coordination:



Handle client queries, provide legal clarifications, and resolve complex property-related issues in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
- Legal Risk Assessment: Identify potential title defects, ownership disputes, encumbrances, documentation gaps, and other legal risks, recommending practical solutions wherever possible.
- Process Improvement: Coordinate with Operations and Technology teams to improve workflows, streamline processes, enhance platform functionality, and reduce TAT.
- Compliance & Legal Updates: Ensure adherence to applicable Tamil Nadu property laws, land records, registration procedures, and other relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
- Training & Development: Train, mentor, and support team members to strengthen their legal knowledge, report-writing skills, productivity, and quality of deliverables.
- Escalation Management: Handle complex cases and escalations, provide guidance to team members, and support the resolution of critical legal queries.
- Performance Monitoring: Track team performance against defined productivity, quality, and TAT metrics and take corrective action wherever required.

Candidate Requirements

- LLB / LLM from a recognized university.
- 8–12 years of relevant experience in land and real estate legal matters,



title verification, property due diligence, and legal opinion preparation.
- Prior experience in managing or leading a team of legal professionals is mandatory; experience managing a team of 4–5 members will be preferred.
- Strong hands-on experience in reviewing, preparing, and approving Title Opinions and Legal Verification Reports.
- Candidates with experience in Banks, NBFCs, Real Estate Developers, Law Firms, or Property Legal Services organizations will be preferred.
- Solid knowledge of Tamil Nadu property laws, land records, title deeds, encumbrances, registration processes, and property documentation.
- Fluency in Tamil is mandatory, including reading, writing, and speaking.
- Excellent legal research, analytical, documentation, and report-review skills.
- Good communication, client management, stakeholder coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize workloads, and ensure delivery within defined TAT and quality parameters.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor team members, manage escalations, and drive team performance.

Preferred Candidate Profile

- Experience in property legal verification services, mortgage-related legal due diligence, or title verification for secured lending.
- Experience handling legal assignments for Banks, NBFCs, and financial institutions.
- Demonstrated ability to balance team leadership with hands-on legal review and complex case resolution.
- Familiarity with technology-enabled legal workflows and digital property documentation platforms.
