Role & responsibilities

- Convert customer requirements into machine concepts and layouts; present options with cycle-time and cost implications

- Full 3D modelling and assembly design in SolidWorks (Autodesk Fusion where needed)

- Release manufacturing drawings with GD&T;, tolerances, material and surface-treatment callouts

- Prepare BOMs and separate make/buy lists; select bought-outs cylinders, guides, bearings, servo motors, gearboxes, sensors (Festo, SMC, Misumi, HIWIN or equivalent)

- Size actuators and drives: force, torque, stroke, speed and inertia calculations

- Work with the electrical/PLC engineer on sensor positions, panel space and I/O

- Coordinate with fabrication and machining vendors; resolve drawing queries and inspect critical parts

- Support assembly, trials and FAT; fix design issues found on the floor and update the drawings

- Maintain a standard parts library and drawing revision control

- Support sales with concept models and renders for quotations

Preferred candidate profile





- 3+ years in machine design SPMs, assembly automation, pick-and-place, indexing or packaging machines

- Strong SolidWorks: part, assembly, sheet metal, weldments, drawings, BOM

- Can show 3+ machines you designed that were built and are running — portfolio required at interview

- GD&T;, fits and tolerances, and design for manufacturing/assembly

- Pneumatics and linear motion selection; basic servo and PLC understanding

- Knowledge of machining and fabrication processes and their cost drivers

Good to have

- Autodesk Fusion (CAD/CAM or generative design)

- Pad printing, screen printing or marking machine experience

- Vision system or conveyor integration projects

- FEA / motion simulation (SolidWorks Simulation, Motion)

- Hands-on assembly experience
