Role Summary

The Linux L2 Engineer will be responsible for daily administration, monitoring, and second-level troubleshooting of Linux-based environments including RHEL, SUSE, and Ubuntu. The role involves handling escalations from L1 support, performing preventive maintenance, implementing standard changes, and ensuring system stability and compliance with operational policies

Key Responsibilities

- Respond to system alerts, incidents, and service requests escalated from L1 support teams.

- Administer RHEL, SUSE, and Ubuntu servers, ensuring continuous availability and security.

- Perform system checks, log analysis, and monitoring to identify performance or capacity issues.

- Execute OS patching, updates, and maintenance activities as part of scheduled change windows.

- Manage user accounts, groups, permissions, and access controls as per organizational standards.

- Troubleshoot network-related and storage-related issues in collaboration with other technical teams.

- Automate repetitive operational tasks using shell scripting.

- Update and maintain server inventory, monitoring tools, and documentation.

- Escalate unresolved or complex issues to the L3 team with detailed analysis and findings.

- Ensure compliance with ITIL processes for incident, problem, and change management.

- Participate in shift rotations,



ensuring coverage for 24x7 operations across environments.

- Strong understanding of system boot sequence, storage management (LVM, NFS), and file systems.

- Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash, Python) for task automation and reporting.

- Experience with server monitoring and alerting tools like Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus.

- Working knowledge of package management tools including YUM, Zypper, and APT.

- Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware or KVM.

- Understanding basic networking principles such as DNS, DHCP, routing, and firewalls.

- Experience in supporting ticketing and ITSM tools in an ITIL-aligned workplace
