Role Description The ISM Coordinator is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving the company’s Safety Management System in line with the International Safety Management (ISM) Code. This is a full-time, in office role based in Mumbai, working closely with vessel masters, onboard crews, and shore management to promote safe, compliant, and efficient operations. Day-to-day activities include coordinating safety audits, inspections, and drills; preparing and updating safety procedures and documentation; monitoring incident reports and non-conformities; and following up on corrective and preventive actions.





The role also involves organizing crew training on safety policies, ensuring compliance with regulatory and flag state requirements, liaising with classification societies and authorities, and supporting internal and external audits. The ISM Coordinator contributes to fostering a strong safety culture and operational discipline across the fleet.

Qualifications

- Strong knowledge of the ISM Code, maritime safety regulations, and port/offshore operational standards.
- Experience coordinating safety audits, inspections, incident reporting, and corrective action follow-up.
- Ability to draft, review, and update safety manuals, procedures, and compliance documentation.
- Skills in training and mentoring crew members on safety practices and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration capabilities with onboard and shore-based teams.
- Prior experience in shipping, offshore operations, or marine safety coordination is highly beneficial.
- Relevant maritime qualification or degree/diploma in marine engineering, nautical science, or a related field preferred.
- Competence in using standard office software and digital tools for documentation, reporting, and tracking.
- Ability to work on-site in Mumbai and occasionally travel to vessels or ports as operationally required.
