About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, professional, and highly dependable House Manager to take complete responsibility for the smooth functioning and upkeep of a premium private residence in Kolkata.

The House Manager will supervise household staff and drivers while independently managing property maintenance, housekeeping standards, household purchases, inventory, vendors, expenses, and guest arrangements.

The ideal candidate must demonstrate a strong sense of ownership, exceptional attention to detail, integrity, and the ability to anticipate and resolve household requirements without constant supervision.

Key Responsibilities

1. Complete Household Operations

* Manage the daily functioning, cleanliness, organisation, and upkeep of the entire residence.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure the home is maintained to excellent standards.
- Identify and address operational issues proactively.
- Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly household checklists.

1. Staff & Driver Supervision

* Supervise household staff members and drivers.
- Allocate duties, monitor performance, and manage attendance and leave.
- Maintain discipline, punctuality, grooming, and service standards.
- Coordinate driver schedules, vehicle readiness, servicing, and statutory renewals.
- Arrange replacements when required.

1. Property Maintenance

* Oversee electrical, plumbing, air-conditioning, appliances, water systems, and other household facilities.
- Coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Maintain vendor contacts, warranties, and annual maintenance contracts.




- Ensure all maintenance issues are resolved promptly.

1. Housekeeping & Home Standards

* Maintain premium standards of cleanliness, hygiene, laundry, linen, and household organisation.
- Oversee deep cleaning, pest control, and care of furniture and furnishings.
- Ensure the residence remains presentable and guest-ready.

1. Procurement & Financial Administration

* Manage groceries, household supplies, toiletries, and other essential purchases.
- Maintain inventory and prevent unnecessary wastage.
- Track expenses, utility bills, vendor payments, and petty cash.
- Prepare monthly household expenditure statements.

1. Kitchen & Guest Hospitality

* Coordinate kitchen supplies, meal requirements, and food hygiene.
- Supervise preparations for family guests, dinners, and private gatherings.
- Ensure high standards of guest service and hospitality.

1. Safety & Security

* Coordinate household safety measures and security systems.
- Supervise vendor and service personnel access.
- Maintain emergency contacts and basic safety procedures.
- Ensure complete confidentiality regarding family matters.

1. Reporting & Accountability

* Provide concise daily updates on household operations.




- Maintain weekly task and maintenance reports.
- Submit monthly expense and inventory summaries.
- Follow through on every assigned responsibility until completion.

Candidate Requirements

- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in private residence management, luxury hospitality, or premium property operations.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills.
- Knowledge of household maintenance, vendor management, and administration.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Valuable communication skills in English and Hindi; Bengali preferred.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Excel and WhatsApp.
- Professional appearance, strong integrity, discretion, and reliability.
- Ability to manage the residence independently and take ownership of problems.

Working Arrangements

- Full-time, non-residential position.
- Morning-to-evening duty schedule, to be mutually agreed.
- Weekly off and leave entitlement as per agreed employment terms and applicable law.
- Flexibility for occasional special occasions or household emergencies, with appropriate advance coordination.

We are looking for someone who manages the home as their responsibility, not someone who simply follows instructions.

The successful candidate should ensure that the residence is impeccably maintained, staff are efficiently supervised, maintenance is handled promptly, and the household runs seamlessly with minimal involvement from the homeowners.
