Position- Quality Head — Sheet Metal

Location- Gurugram, Haryana, India

Experience- 10–12 years with minimum 6 years in sheet metal

Education- B.E. / B.Tech Mechanical Engineering

About the role: We need a Quality Head to own the entire quality function for our sheet metal operations — inspection, QMS, supplier quality and customer audits

Must-have requirements

- Deep, hands-on knowledge of sheet metal processes — laser cutting, shearing, CNC punching, bending, forming, welding and assembly.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and apply GD&T;, including tolerance stack-up on multi-part assemblies.
- Working command of press shop operations, press tools and press-part defect analysis; weld shop knowledge including projection and robotic welding.
- Expertise in ISO 9001, with IATF 16949 and PPAP/APQP experience strongly preferred.
- Fluency in quality tools — 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto, SPC, MSA, CAPA.
- Metrology competence: vernier, micrometer, height gauge, surface roughness and CMM-based inspection.
- Proven experience facing customer and third-party audits as the primary technical interface.

Key responsibilities

- Own the end-to-end QMS and maintain it to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and customer-specific requirements.
- Direct IQC, in-process and final/outgoing inspection gates across cutting, bending, welding,



coating and assembly.
- Set and monitor quality standards, control plans, SOPs and inspection check sheets for all sheet metal processes.
- Drive rejection, rework and scrap reduction — track PPM, first-pass yield, scrap rate and cost of poor quality.
- Lead root cause analysis and CAPA for internal failures and customer complaints, and close them within committed timelines.
- Act as the customer-facing quality interface: complaints, containment, 8D submissions, audits and approvals.
- Manage supplier quality — vendor audits, incoming material control and supplier corrective actions.
- Lead internal audits and facilitate second- and third-party audits; close all observations.
- Handle recent product introduction and engineering changes, verifying quality documentation and sign-off.
- Ensure calibration and validity of all measuring and test equipment.
- Build, train and appraise the quality team of engineers, inspectors and metrology technicians.
- Publish quality MIS and KPIs to management, with analysis and improvement plans rather than raw numbers.
- Drive continuous improvement through Lean, Kaizen and Six Sigma initiatives with production and engineering.
