Purpose of the Position :

- Ensures that an India innovation strategy is aligned and developed with the innovation programs, continuously improved and implemented in the field of R&D;, applied technology and technical services,
- Contributes to the technical and commercial competitiveness of the business and to profitable growth,
- Ensures the processing of the necessary research and development tasks to the required extend for the successful implementation of technical projects of multiple strategic levels and timelines,
- Ensures that new businesses with internal and external partners are developed for the business line and Evonik Industries, are coordinated and are successfully rolled-out and implemented,
- Significantly contributes to the development of skilled employees and high performing technical teams and contributes to the long term economic success and the growth of the company.

Key Responsibilities :

Managing a team of scientists and engineers responsible for crucial technical processes in the entire India region. Leading a team in a complex international matrix organization with partly divergent goals, covering the full technologies’ and applications’ portfolio of high importance to the business line. Responsibility to ensure skilled technical support to business and production and development resources to the innovation programs, thus to assure the business’ technical and commercial competitiveness.

- Responsible for building capabilities for the entire regional innovation of the BL and implementation of development frameworks for the region and, for breaking down the overall strategy by developing and delivering regional operational plans and outcomes, aligned and coordinated with the other regions,




- responsible for the delivery of the regional part of the organization's innovation project management program and thus for a significant operational area, aligned and coordinated with the other regions,
- communicating the actions needed to implement the business line's strategy and business plan within the team; explaining the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision and values; inspiring people to commit to these and to doing extraordinary things to achieve regional business goals,
- leading a team of R&D;, applied technology and technical services professionals, overseeing innovation and other technical projects and studies in order to investigate relationships, solve technical problems, and develop new solutions for technology and applications in alignment with the programs and the other regions,
- expertise based authority on developing appropriate plans and performing necessary actions to further improve the performance and to reduce or mitigate potential risks,
- external representation in the region, contact to authorities on management level; negotiation and determination of cooperation agreements with company internal and external partners,
- planning and steering of the regional innovation-, technical services- and capex-budget on cost center level and allocation of the necessary internal development resources to the programs,
- Disciplinary, functional & ESHQ responsibility for multiple sites and responsibility to implement a suitable subordinate organization, responsibility for planning of the development of personnel and infrastructure, including selection of personnel and cost responsibility.

Education, Certification and/or Relevant Experience Required

- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry with expertise in Catalysis, Materials Science, Petrochemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in Research & Development, Technology Development or Innovation Management within the Catalysts industry.
- Proven leadership experience of at least 8-10 years managing multidisciplinary teams of scientists
