Role Overview

This is an entry-level position within the GIS & IT Department. The GIS Technician will support the development, maintenance and delivery of GIS databases for urban and transportation projects. The role involves digitisation, spatial data editing and analysis, satellite imagery processing, and preparation of accurate GIS outputs in line with project requirements.

Employment Details

Experience- 0-3 Years; freshers may apply

Work Location- Chennai, Tamil Nadu

Work Arrangement- On-site

Travel- Willingness to travel up to 25%, as required

Key Responsibilities

· Develop, maintain and update GIS databases for urban and transportation projects.

· Coordinate with government clients and relevant officials to verify, validate and confirm geospatial data, ensuring its accuracy and consistency with project requirements.

· Perform digitisation, spatial data editing and spatial analysis using relevant GIS software.





· Capture and compile on-ground information using project plans and available digital sources.

· Analyse satellite imagery and other spatial datasets to generate meaningful project information.

· Capture maps and related spatial data in GIS software to support accurate area calculations for mapped features.

· Apply image-processing techniques, including image classification and GIS analysis, to produce outputs in accordance with project requirements.

· Complete assigned tasks within agreed timelines and maintain the quality and accuracy of deliverables.

· Document work progress and report daily updates, output quality and any issues to the Team Lead.

· Be available for field deployment and travel as required by project needs.

Qualifications & Technical Skills

· Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing & GIS, Geospatial Sciences, Satellite Intelligence or a related discipline.

· Working knowledge of MS Office.

· Familiarity with GIS tools such as QGIS and ArcGIS.

· Ability to understand maps, plans and spatial datasets and carry out accurate data entry and analysis.

· Strong documentation and daily reporting skills.

· Self-motivated, proactive and eager to learn.

· Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

· Positive problem-solving skills and the ability to develop practical solutions to project requirements.

· Strong attention to detail, accuracy and commitment to timely task completion.

· Willingness to undertake field assignments and travel as required.
