Experience

- 8–10 years, including at least 4 years in mechanical or electromechanical product development.
- At least 2-3 years AI automation or digital transformation (including software development / coding), preferably within a manufacturing & product engineering environment.
- Has delivered at least one AI or automation solution adopted by engineering users in daily work. Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics / Computer Science / Information Technology,or a related field.
- Certifications in AI/ML, data science or automation are preferred.

Role Purpose

This role brings AI into the connector product development process across Kochi engineering. The person will keep looking for places where AI can make engineering work faster, more accurate and more consistent. They will build, test and roll out AI tools and agents for product design and development, and make sure these tools fit into the global engineering digital roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

- 1. Opportunity Identification & Digital Roadmap

•

Identify opportunities to automate and digitalize engineering processes and workflows, from concept to launch.

•

Build and maintain the Kochi AI/digital roadmap and backlog, prioritizing use cases by business value, effort and risk.

•

Develop and implement software solutions that improve operational efficiency and productivity, and measure their impact (cycle time, errors avoided, hours saved).

- AI in Design & Engineering Workflows

•

CAD: Design automation, rule-based modeling, design reuse and similar-part search in Creo or NX.

•

Drawing verification: Automated checks for GD&T;, title blocks, notes, standards compliance and BOM consistency.

•

Tolerance analysis: AI-assisted tolerance stack-up checks and recommendations.

•





DFM: AI-driven DFM checklists and design reviews for stamping, molding, plating and assembly.

•

DFMEA: AI-generated draft failure modes, cause/control suggestions from past data, and cross-program consistency checks.

- Engineering Data, Systems Integration & SharePoint

•

Design and integrate databases and centralized information repositories as a single source of truth.

•

Develop and maintain the Engineering SharePoint portal for tools, documentation, KPIs, project trackingand knowledge management.

Integrate digital systems (SharePoint, Clarizen, PLM, Teams) to streamline data flow and reduce manual work.

•

Build solutions using Power Platform, SharePoint and other approved technologies.

•

Technical Reports and Documentation: Automate trackers, action-item follow-up and leadership reports.

- Adoption, Support & Governance

•

Provide training and user support to drive adoption of new tools and processes; build internal champions.

•

Maintain, enhance and continuously improve implemented digital solutions.

•

Ensure solutions comply with Amphenol IT security, data confidentiality and IP protection policies.

•

Work with global sites to reuse proven solutions and avoid duplicate effort.

- Predictive Engineering & Digital Twin Enablement (Future Scope)

•





Partner with the site and global Engineering Excellence teams on a long-term roadmap for predictive engineering and digital twins.

•

Help build predictive models from test, simulation and field data (e.g., T-rise, LLCR, mating forces) to reduce prototype and validation loops.

Qualifications

Technical Skills – Required

•

Python programming, plus data handling and scripting for engineering automation. Additional programming/scripting languages such as C#, JavaScript or VB.NET.

•

Practical experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG and agent frameworks.

•

SharePoint development and administration, including sites, lists and workflows. Database management and SQL.

•

AI agent development: Hands-on experience building AI agents using Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot Studio.

•

Agentic AI: Experience designing multi-step agentic workflows that use tools, call APIs and act on engineering data with human review.

•

Microsoft automation tools: Copilot Studio, Power Automate, Power Apps, SharePoint and Power BI.

•

Process automation and system integration.

Technical Skills – Preferred

•

Machine learning for engineering data, such as defect prediction or surrogate models.

•

Understanding of the product development process: DFM, DFMEA, GD&T; and tolerance stack-up.

•

CAD/PLM tools (Creo, NX, Windchill, Teamcenter) and their APIs.

•

Familiarity with FEA and thermal simulation workflows.
