Role & responsibilities

- Design and develop new motor products, including electromagnetic, mechanical, and thermal design, from initial concept through detailed engineering drawings.
- Perform electromagnetic simulations and calculations (e.g., using tools like ANSYS Maxwell, Motor-CAD) Conduct mechanical design of motor components (rotor, stator, shaft, bearings, housing, windings) using CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCad).
- Knowledge of winding design, magnet selection (rare earth/ferrite), and thermal management. Create and maintain BOMs, engineering drawings, tolerances, and design specifications (GD&T;).
- Develop prototypes and coordinate build, testing, and validation of new motor designs.
- Analyze test data (performance, thermal, vibration, noise, durability) and iterate designs to meet specifications. Collaborate with manufacturing/process engineers to ensure designs are optimized for production (DFM/DFA).
- Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards (IEC, NEMA, UL, ISO, etc.) and safety/regulatory requirements.




- Creating reports of tolerance stack-up analysis, and DFM/DFA principles.
- Stay current with emerging motor technologies, materials, and manufacturing techniques.
- Manage or contribute to new product development (NPD) timelines, milestones, and deliverables.

Preferred candidate profile Required Skills and Competencies: Solid understanding of electric motor theory (BLDC, PMSM, stepper motor control) and mechanical gear systems.

Familiarity with CAD (for understanding designs) and basic FEA/simulation concepts is a plus.

Hands-on experience with test equipment: dynamometers, power analyzers, oscilloscopes, DAQ systems.

Experience with Six Sigma/DFMEA/FMEA methodologies.

Prior experience taking a product from concept to mass production.

Hands-on experience with inspection tools and shop-floor processes.

Knowledge of relevant industry standards (IEC, NEMA, ISO, AGMA, UL).
