Job Purpose

We are looking for an experienced engineering leader to head the Central Manufacturing Engineering (CME) Machining function for a leading automobile organisation.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in project engineering, capital project management and execution within machining-intensive manufacturing environments, preferably with an automotive OEM or Tier-1 auto-component manufacturer.

The incumbent will be responsible for driving end-to-end manufacturing engineering projects, including conceptualisation, feasibility, planning, equipment procurement, installation, commissioning and production stabilisation, while ensuring cost, quality, productivity and project delivery objectives.

Key Responsibilities Candidate Profile / Desired Experience Educational Qualification

- CME Machining Function Leadership
- Lead the Central Manufacturing Engineering function for machining operations.
- Develop manufacturing engineering strategies aligned with business and plant requirements.
- Drive standardisation of machining processes, technologies and engineering practices across manufacturing facilities.
- Provide technical direction and governance for machining-related projects and initiatives.
- Capital Projects & Project Execution
- Lead end-to-end capital projects involving new machining lines, machine installations, capacity expansion and technology upgrades.
- Manage project planning, budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation and execution.
- Drive projects from concept development and feasibility assessment through procurement, installation, commissioning and production stabilisation.
- Coordinate with machine suppliers, technology partners, consultants and internal stakeholders.




- Ensure adherence to project budgets, timelines, technical specifications and implementation milestones.
- Machining Technology & Process Engineering
- Drive development and implementation of machining processes for automotive and farm equipment components.
- Provide technical expertise in CNC machining, turning, milling, grinding, boring and related manufacturing processes.
- Evaluate and implement advanced machining technologies, automation, robotics and material-handling solutions.
- Drive cycle-time reduction, line balancing, tooling optimisation and productivity improvement.
- Ensure robust process design, machine capability and manufacturing feasibility.
- Recent Product Introduction & Capacity Development
- Collaborate with Product Development, R&D;, Quality and Manufacturing teams for new product and process introduction.
- Ensure manufacturing readiness for new products, machining lines and capacity expansion programmes.
- Drive process validation, capability studies, production trials and successful handover to plant operations.
- Ensure alignment of manufacturing processes with product specifications, quality requirements and production volumes.
- Cost Optimisation & Operational Excellence
- Drive CAPEX optimisation and effective utilisation of project investments.
- Identify opportunities for automation, productivity improvement and manufacturing cost reduction.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor project cost, implementation timelines, machine utilisation, cycle time and productivity metrics.
- Quality, Safety & Engineering Standards
- Ensure adherence to engineering standards,



process specifications and quality requirements.
- Drive equipment safety, statutory compliance and engineering best practices.
- Ensure machine validation, process capability and equipment reliability before production handover.
- Collaborate with Quality and Maintenance teams to ensure stable manufacturing operations.
- Team & Stakeholder Management
- Lead, mentor and develop the CME Machining team.
- Collaborate with Plant Operations, Production, Quality, Maintenance, R&D;, Procurement and Supply Chain.
- Manage relationships with equipment suppliers, technology partners and external agencies.
- Drive technical excellence, accountability and timely project execution.
- Minimum 18 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Capital Projects, Project Engineering or related functions within the automotive / auto-component industry.
- Experience with an Automotive OEM or Tier-1 auto-component manufacturer preferred.
- Strong experience in planning, execution and commissioning of machining lines and manufacturing facilities.
- Proven track record of handling large-scale CAPEX projects, machine installations, capacity expansions and technology upgrades.
- Strong technical understanding of machining processes, CNC machines, tooling, automation and manufacturing systems.
- Experience managing equipment suppliers, project budgets, timelines and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exposure to tractor, engine, transmission, axle or other machining-intensive manufacturing operations will be an added advantage.
- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production / Industrial / Automobile Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline Mandatory.

Preferred Candidate Background: Automotive OEMs, Tier-1 auto-component manufacturers, tractor manufacturing, engine and transmission manufacturing, and other machining-intensive engineering organisations.
