Key Responsibilities

- Process and review registered laser scan point cloud data (from scanning teams and validate data quality prior to modeling.
- Analyze, navigate, and interpret terrestrial laser scan point clouds using Autodesk ReCap and related point cloud platforms.
- Develop accurate LOD 200 to 500 BIM models of electrical substations from point cloud data in accordance with Scan2BIM standards.
- Model primary electrical equipment, structural steel, foundations, buildings, cable trenches, fencing, lighting systems, and site infrastructure from point cloud data.
- Create, modify, and maintain Revit Families for utility and substation assets not available in the existing content library.
- Validate BIM models against point cloud data to achieve the required modeling accuracy compliance with project specifications.
- Generate plans, elevations, sections, layouts, and project drawings directly from BIM models.
- Maintain BIM standards, naming conventions, asset metadata, SAP-linked parameters, and model organization requirements.
- Perform model quality reviews, clash detection, and model coordination using Navisworks and Autodesk Model Coordination.
- Support BIM verification activities, issue tracking, model validation reports, and quality documentation.
- Coordinate with survey teams, BIM leads, utility engineers, and project stakeholders to resolve modeling and asset identification issues.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of reusable BIM content libraries for utility projects.

Roles and Responsibilities

Manages all activities of the engineering department. Directs department activities, through subordinates, to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures. Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to plan projects.

Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products. Forecasts operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests. Directs personnel activities of department, such as recruitment, hiring, performance evaluations, and salary adjustments.

May direct field testing of products and systems performed by field staff. Typically requires a Master's degree and seven or more years of experience.
