Designation: Account Director - Lead Reputation & AI Visibility
Stakeholders increasingly form their view of a company through AI answers and search. You will manage our work in shaping how clients are represented there, as a core part of managing their reputation.
What you'll do
Selling and servicing retainers
- Build and manage a pipeline of search and LLM visibility mandates, both standalone and as part of integrated reputation retainers
- Lead pitches end to end: diagnostic audits as entry points, proposals, presentations and commercial negotiation
- Design scopes, deliverables and pricing models (audit fees, monthly retainers, crisis add-ons) that are clear to clients and profitable for the firm
- Plan resourcing and effort per mandate so delivery stays within budgeted hours and margin
- Run day-to-day servicing: 30-day plans, monthly reports, quarterly business reviews and senior client meetings
- Own account health across the portfolio, including renewals, scope expansion and cross-sell into PR, digital and content teams
- Track revenue, billing, margins and utilization against targets, and report on practice performance to leadership
Client counsel and market development
- Act as senior advisor to promoters, CEOs, CMOs and boards on how their company and leaders are perceived through AI and search
- Translate audit findings into explicit priorities, risks and decisions, in plain business language
- Advise on reputation implications of key moments: listings, results, leadership changes, M&A;, expansions and crises
- Flag where perception gaps reflect business issues that communication alone cannot fix
- Develop the practice's points of view, research reports and benchmarks on AI-era reputation
- Represent the firm at industry events, webinars and in media commentary to build recognition for the practice
- Build, coach and lead a team, and train account teams across offices to bring AEO into their work
Reputation building (AEO / GEO / SEO)
- Define the core narrative each client must own and the priority questions it should be the answer to, by stakeholder group
- Plan and brief content designed for AI citation: FAQs, explainers, data-led pages, comparison pages, leadership profiles and glossaries
- Strengthen entity signals across Wikipedia, Google Knowledge Panel, Crunchbase, LinkedIn and sector directories
- Lead technical SEO: site architecture, crawlability, indexation, Core Web Vitals and AI crawler access (robots.txt, llms.txt)
- Implement and maintain schema markup for organization, people, products, articles and FAQs
- Manage search reputation for brand and leadership names, including page-one results, autocomplete, People Also Ask, etc.
- Run ongoing tests on what moves AI answers and update playbooks as engines change
Reputation intelligence
- Audit how clients and their leaders appear across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Copilot, Meta AI and Google AI Overviews / AI Mode
- Build prompt libraries per client covering brand, category, leadership, financials, ESG, governance, crisis and competitor queries
- Map perception by stakeholder group: investors, customers, talent, media and regulators
- Identify narrative gaps, inaccuracies and how competitors are positioned against the client
- Map the sources each engine relies on (news, Wikipedia, Reddit, reviews, filings, owned sites) and rank them by influence
- Own a monthly reputation scorecard covering accuracy, sentiment, share of voice, citation share and narrative consistency
- Benchmark clients against peers and track movement over time
Reputation protection and correction
- Detect inaccurate, outdated,
hallucinated or negatively framed AI answers about clients and their leaders
- Trace each issue to its source and build a correction plan: source updates, authoritative counter-content, structured data and platform feedback channels
- Manage resurfacing controversies so past issues do not dominate current answers
- Protect promoter and leadership reputation, including unverified claims and outdated associations
- Support crisis teams with real-time monitoring of AI and search during live issues
- Lead post-crisis recovery plans and track how quickly accurate answers are restored
- Document before-and-after evidence for every correction for client reporting
Integration with PR
- Embed AEO into every PR plan, from annual strategy to campaign briefs
- Guide media targeting towards outlets and formats that AI engines cite most for each sector
- Shape press releases, bylines, interviews and leadership content so they are quotable, factual and citable
- Ensure key messages and proof points appear consistently in the sources that feed AI answers
- Align thought leadership with the questions investors, media and customers ask
- Add AI visibility metrics to PR reporting alongside coverage, reach and sentiment
- Work with digital, content, creative and analytics teams so owned and earned assets support each other
Vendor management
- Build and manage a vetted panel of vendors for backlinks, digital PR, content syndication, Wikipedia support, schema and AI visibility tools
- Set quality standards for link sources: domain authority, relevance, editorial standards and brand safety
- Brief vendors clearly and review their work before it goes live for any client
- Audit vendor delivery regularly and remove sources that put client reputation at risk
- Negotiate rates and contracts, and manage vendor costs within mandate budgets
- Evaluate and manage the practice's tool stack (Profound, Peec AI, Semrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog or similar)
