About the Opportunity

XML International is recruiting an experienced Senior Backend Developer – Python to design, develop and maintain scalable backend applications within an international technology environment.

We are seeking a hands-on software engineer with strong Python expertise, experience building RESTful APIs, and practical knowledge of cloud-native development, CI/CD automation and modern software engineering practices.

The ideal candidate combines backend development expertise with strong troubleshooting skills, production ownership and a commitment to delivering reliable, high-quality applications.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Development & API Engineering

- Design, develop and maintain scalable backend applications using Python and relevant frameworks.
- Build, integrate and maintain RESTful APIs and application interfaces.
- Develop reliable, maintainable and high-performance backend solutions.
- Apply modern software engineering practices, coding standards and debugging techniques.

Cloud-Native Development & DevOps

- Build, deploy and maintain cloud-native applications using AWS or Azure.
- Work with containerization, Kubernetes and serverless technologies.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure Pipelines, CircleCI, Jenkins X or similar tools.
- Support application deployment, infrastructure integration and automation.

Testing & Quality Engineering

- Develop unit and integration tests using Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices.




- Improve automated testing, application reliability and code quality.
- Identify technical issues and implement sustainable solutions.
- Follow modern testing, debugging and quality assurance practices.

Databases & Data Integration

- Work with relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
- Support database integration, application data flows and query-related troubleshooting.
- Understand and contribute to end-to-end ETL processes and data integration workflows.

Production Support & Collaboration

- Troubleshoot application, database and production incidents.
- Take ownership of deployed applications and interfaces.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams in Agile environments.
- Contribute to technical discussions, problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- 6+ years of professional experience in software development, with strong expertise in Python backend engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python and backend development frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience developing complex JavaScript applications.
- Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs and backend application architecture.
- Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure cloud services.
- Good understanding of containers,



Kubernetes and serverless functions.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using modern automation tools.
- Strong experience with Test-Driven Development, unit testing and integration testing.
- Working knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
- Understanding of ETL processes and data integration.
- Experience troubleshooting production applications, databases and interfaces.
- Strong analytical, communication and collaboration skills.

Additional Advantages

- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Knowledge of Cloudera or other data integration technologies.
- Experience with Agile and Lean Startup methodologies.
- Strong understanding of cloud automation, software testing and deployment practices.
