About the Role

We are seeking Japan-based home video recorders to help train the next generation of personal robotics. You will capture high-quality video demonstrations of everyday household tasks using a UMI gripper wearable device that mimics a robot’s hand while allowing you to perform tasks naturally.

Your demonstrations will become training data that teaches robots how to operate in real home environments. Prior AI experience is not required; careful task execution and adherence to recording specifications are essential.

Key Responsibilities

- Capture and submit high-quality, specification-compliant video demonstrations of everyday household tasks using a UMI gripper wearable device.

- Follow detailed, task-specific instructions to ensure recordings meet project standards.

- Review feedback from assigned reviewers and refine your approach to improve data quality.

- Set up and operate recording equipment and the UMI gripper to accurately capture natural hand movements during household tasks.

- Maintain a consistent weekly workflow and meet minimum approved data requirements.





- Incorporate feedback and adapt to evolving task requirements and recording standards.

Required Qualifications

- Keen attention to detail and the ability to follow complex specifications precisely.

- Manual dexterity and the ability to perform physical tasks accurately in varied household environments.

- Comfort operating, wearing, and setting up specialized devices and recording equipment.

- Ability to incorporate feedback and make iterative improvements to work processes and outputs.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including openness to timely feedback exchanges.

- Reliable access to a fully equipped Japanese household environment, including a kitchen, living spaces, and common household items.

- Stable, high-speed internet capable of uploading large video files from your home.

- Comfort with prolonged use of a VR headset as part of the regular work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Genuine curiosity about personal robotics, AI, and emerging technology in home environments.

- Prior experience in data collection, usability studies, or similar hands-on projects.

- Patience for repetitive, precision-oriented work and willingness to adapt as project needs evolve.

Equipment Requirements





The project involves performing household tasks while wearing a VR headset and wearable hand-tracking gloves that capture hand movements and visual demonstrations.

All required equipment will be shipped to you at no cost. Setup and usage instructions will be provided during onboarding. Your home environment must meet the space, lighting, and connectivity requirements outlined during onboarding.

Compensation Structure

- Standard starting rate: $12/hour

- Potential effective rate: Up to $21/hour as efficiency improves

Compensation is based on completed video hours. Faster task completion may increase your effective hourly earnings, provided the required quality standards are maintained.

Start Timeline and Availability

The project typically fills roles within 48 hours. Selected candidates are expected to begin their first task as soon as they move forward with their application, with the expectation of starting task completion within approximately 24 hours of onboarding.
