Role & responsibilities

1. Sit at the PMJAY help desk and welcome patients and attendants, explaining the scheme, its benefits, and the cashless treatment process in simple Hindi and the local language.

2. Verify beneficiary eligibility through the Beneficiary Identification System (BIS) using Aadhaar, ration card, PMJAY e-card, or other approved documents.

3. Help eligible patients obtain or generate their Ayushman card through the approved process, or guide them to the nearest enrolment centre.

4. Register patients on the Transaction Management System (TMS) and carry out pre-authorization requests for packages that need it.

5. Coordinate with treating doctors and clinical staff to select the correct package and collect required documents, investigation reports, and clinical notes.

6. Upload treatment records, photographs, and discharge summaries, and follow up on claim submission, queries, and approvals within the stipulated timelines.

7. Make sure eligible patients receive cashless treatment, and report any case of illegal charging or denial of service to the hospital management.

8. Counsel patients and families on treatment coverage, the documents they need, expected stay, and what to do at discharge.

Support the hospital's PMJAY nodal officer and billing team in tracking claim status, rejections, and recovery of pending claims.

10. Keep daily records of patients counselled, registered, and discharged under the scheme, and submit MIS reports as required.

11. Take part in health awareness and enrolment drives, and refer patients to other government schemes where relevant.

12. Handle patient grievances politely and escalate them to the hospital management or the State Health Agency (SHA), Bihar helpline when needed.

13. Protect patient confidentiality and follow all National Health Authority (NHA) guidelines, SOPs, and data security rules.

Preferred candidate profile

- Graduate in any discipline. A degree or diploma in Social Work, Public Health, Hospital Administration, Nursing, or Health Sciences is preferred.
- Experience of at least 2-5 years in a hospital help desk, insurance desk, TPA, or health scheme setting (freshers with training may be considered).
- Preferably certified or trained as a Pradhan Mantri Arogya Mitra (PMAM) / Ayushman Mitra by the NHA or State Health Agency.
