A Retail Store Cashier is a frontline professional responsible for processing customer transactions, managing payments accurately, and ensuring a positive final impression of the shopping experience. Beyond simple payment handling, they often assist with inventory management and basic store maintenance to support overall operations.

Core Responsibilities :

- Transaction Management : Efficiently operate POS (Point-of-Sale) systems and cash registers to scan items and process various payment methods, including cash, credit/debit cards, and digital wallets.
- Financial Accuracy : Count money in the cash drawer at the start and end of shifts, ensuring the final revenue reconciles perfectly with transaction records.
- Customer Support : Greet customers upon entry and exit, answer product-related inquiries, help locate items, and provide information on current promotions or store policies.
- Checkout Maintenance : Maintain a clean and organized checkout station, restock bags and receipt paper, and arrange impulse-purchase displays near the register.
- Returns & Exchanges : Handle merchandise returns and exchanges quickly and professionally while following established store security and fraud-prevention procedures.
- Inventory Assistance :



Help stock shelves, check item availability through store software, and report low inventory levels to management.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

- Numerical & Math Skills : Ability to perform quick mental arithmetic to provide accurate change and calculate discounts or taxes without total technology reliance.
- Technical Proficiency : Familiarity with barcode scanners, payment terminals, and electronic equipment like scales or ticket dispensers.
- Interpersonal Excellence : Solid communication and conflict-resolution skills to handle long lines or difficult customer interactions with a professional demeanor.
- Physical Stamina : Capability to stand for long periods, walk through store aisles, and lift heavy items (often up to 25 kg) as needed.
