FEED PLANT HEAD / GM PLANT Poultry Feed Manufacturing

1. Job Purpose

The Senior Manager / Feed Plant Manager will be responsible for the overall management and performance of the poultry feed manufacturing plant, including production, maintenance, quality, manpower, inventory, cost control, safety, administration, and operational efficiency.

The role requires strong technical, managerial, administrative, and leadership capabilities, with proven experience in managing a high-capacity poultry feed manufacturing plant.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Production Management

- Plan and monitor daily and weekly production schedules in line with business requirements.
- Ensure achievement of production targets while maintaining product quality and cost efficiency.
- Monitor production processes, plant utilization, downtime, and overall operational efficiency.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machinery, materials, and other resources.
- Implement appropriate manufacturing techniques and methodologies to improve productivity.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth and uninterrupted production operations.

B. Plant Maintenance & Engineering

- Ensure effective preventive and breakdown maintenance of all plant machinery and equipment.
- Maintain and improve the reliability and availability of production equipment.
- Monitor plant equipment performance and implement corrective measures wherever required.
- Plan and execute equipment modifications, improvements, and upgradation.
- Ensure proper upkeep of machinery, utilities, electrical systems, and other plant infrastructure.
- Adopt modern maintenance methodologies to improve equipment life and reduce breakdowns.

C. Cost Control & Operational Efficiency

- Control manufacturing, maintenance, energy, manpower, and operational costs within the approved budget.
- Identify and implement cost-saving measures across plant operations.
- Implement energy and water conservation measures.




- Monitor O&M; expenditure and take corrective action to minimize unnecessary costs.
- Ensure optimum utilization of plant capacity and resources.

D. Quality Management

- Establish and maintain appropriate quality assurance standards for poultry feed manufacturing.
- Ensure compliance with approved formulations, manufacturing procedures, and quality standards.
- Monitor raw material and finished-product quality in coordination with the Quality/Technical team.
- Ensure adherence to SOPs and quality management systems.
- Investigate quality deviations and implement corrective and preventive actions.

E. Raw Material & Inventory Management

- Monitor inventory levels of feed ingredients and other essential materials.
- Ensure timely procurement requirements are communicated to the concerned departments.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels to avoid production interruptions.
- Ensure proper accounting, storage, handling, and control of feed ingredients and other materials.
- Minimize material losses, wastage, pilferage, and inventory variances.

F. Manpower & Team Management

- Lead, motivate, train, and develop the plant team.
- Allocate manpower and resources appropriately to achieve production and operational targets.
- Build an effective and accountable team culture.
- Empower managers and supervisors to take ownership of their respective responsibilities.
- Lead by example in team building, discipline, communication, and performance management.
- Conduct training and knowledge-sharing sessions for employees.
- Identify skill gaps and arrange appropriate training and development programs.

G. Administration & Compliance

- Manage the overall administrative activities of the feed plant.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, plant procedures, statutory requirements, and safety standards.
- Maintain proper documentation and operational records.
- Coordinate with HR, Finance, Procurement, Quality, Maintenance,



and other departments.
- Ensure discipline and professional work practices throughout the plant.

H. Safety & Housekeeping

- Ensure a secure working environment across the plant.
- Implement and monitor workplace safety procedures.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to safety practices.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and take corrective action.
- Maintain high standards of plant housekeeping and 5S practices.
- Identify potential operational and safety risks and implement preventive measures.

4. Required Skills & Competencies

The candidate should possess:

- Strong experience in poultry feed manufacturing.
- Proven experience managing a feed plant with a capacity of at least 10,000 MT per month.
- Strong knowledge of poultry feed manufacturing processes and plant operations.
- Good knowledge of mechanical systems, machinery, equipment, and maintenance.
- Strong production planning and operational management skills.
- Excellent administration and people-management capabilities.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Good knowledge of cost control and budget management.
- Knowledge of energy and water conservation practices.
- Strong understanding of plant safety and housekeeping.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and achieve production targets.
- Good communication, training, and presentation skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams.

5. Preferred Candidate Profile

- 1520 years of overall experience, preferably in poultry feed manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience in managing a high-capacity feed manufacturing plant.
- Minimum experience with 10,000 MT/month production capacity.
- Mechanical Engineering qualification preferred.
- Strong combination of technical knowledge + production management + administration + leadership.
- Experience in cost reduction, plant efficiency improvement, maintenance optimization, and manpower productivity.
- Candidates currently working as Feed Plant Head Looking Production and administration, and overall factory operation may be considered.
