ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Tech Lead (MEAN / MERN) with 5+ years of professional experience building scalable web applications with JavaScript and TypeScript across the stack. This is a technical leadership role that stays close to the code: you will spend about 40–50% of your time writing production code on critical modules, and 50–60% on architecture, code reviews, mentoring, and delivery coordination.

You will lead a team of full stack engineers working across several concurrent projects, including consumer gaming and engagement platforms and digital content applications. You will work closely with delivery managers, business analysts, QA, and DevOps to turn business requirements into well-engineered releases. Angular experience is preferred; strong React candidates are equally welcome.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Hands-on Engineering (40–50% of the role)

- Design, develop, and own critical and complex modules across Node.js / Express backends and Angular or React frontends.
- Define application architecture, API contracts, data models, and coding standards for the projects you lead.
- Build and review secure, scalable REST APIs and real-time features (WebSockets / Socket.io) for high-concurrency use cases.
- Design data stores in MongoDB and MySQL; optimise queries, indexing, and caching (Redis) for performance.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues, performance bottlenecks, and security vulnerabilities; drive root-cause analysis.




- Set up and improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and release processes together with the DevOps team.

Technical Leadership & Delivery (50–60% of the role)
- Lead and mentor a team of full stack engineers, including junior members; foster ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct thorough code reviews and ensure adherence to quality, security, and architectural standards.
- Breakdown requirements into technical tasks; drive estimation, sprint planning, and on-time delivery across multiple projects.
- Work with delivery managers and business analysts to clarify scope, flag risks early, and plan releases.
- Act as the technical point of contact for your projects; provide status and technical inputs to the CTO and management reviews.
- Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and development guidelines; evaluate new tools and frameworks.

MUST-HAVE SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+yearsof hands-on full stack JavaScript / TypeScript development, with at least 2 years leading developers or owning technical delivery of a project.
- Strong backend expertise in Node.js and Express (NestJS is a plus) — REST API design, authentication / authorisation (JWT, OAuth), middleware, and error handling.
- Strong frontend expertise in Angular (preferred) or React — component architecture, routing, state management (NgRx / RxJS or Redux), and performance tuning.
- Solid experience with MongoDB (schema design, aggregation, indexing) and working knowledge of a relational database such as MySQL.




- Experience designing microservices or modular monoliths; familiarity with Redis caching and message queues.
- Proficiency with Git, code-review workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and Docker.
- Experience with automated testing — unit and integration tests (Jest, Mocha, Jasmine/Karma or similar).
- Proven experience mentoring developers, conducting code reviews, and estimating and planning work.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.

POSITIVE-TO-HAVE SKILLS

- Experience building real-time or high-traffic consumer applications (gaming, media, or engagement platforms).
- Cloudexperience on AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS) or equivalent on Azure / GCP.
- Familiarity with Kafka or RabbitMQ, and with Kubernetes or other container orchestration. • Integration experience with payment gateways, wallets, or third-party analytics platforms. • Working knowledge of Java / Spring Boot — parts of the wider team build on Java.
- Experience using AI-powered development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor) to improve coding, review, and documentation productivity.
