Who are we looking for?

Our client, a global management consulting firm, is seeking a senior manufacturing expert to support a rapid operational diagnostic for a global manufacturer of gloves and personal protective equipment (PPE).

The engagement will assess the operational readiness of three manufacturing sites across Sri Lanka and South India to sustainably absorb additional production volumes. The expert will work alongside the consulting team, spending approximately one week at each site to assess shop-floor operations and identify key opportunities, risks and improvement areas.

The overall engagement is expected to run for approximately 4 weeks, with work likely to commence in the next 2–3 weeks. A full-time commitment is preferred.

Role & Responsibilities:

- Conduct a rapid operational diagnostic across three manufacturing sites, spending approximately 3–4 days at each location.
- Assess each site's readiness and ability to absorb additional production volumes sustainably.
- Evaluate key manufacturing functions, including production, maintenance, quality, safety and continuous improvement.
- Assess workforce and labour capabilities, including hiring, training, retention and workforce management.
- Conduct on-site Gemba walks across both day and night shifts to observe shop-floor operations and identify performance gaps.




- Benchmark key operational parameters, productivity metrics and manufacturing practices.
- Interview site leadership, shop-floor employees and union representatives to understand operational challenges and workforce dynamics.
- Identify constraints, risks and improvement opportunities that could affect production scalability.
- Apply a structured assessment framework to evaluate site readiness and develop fact-based findings.
- Consolidate observations and provide transparent recommendations to the consulting team.

Skills & Qualifications:

- 15+ years of hands-on manufacturing and shop-floor operations experience.
- Prior experience as a Plant Manager, Head of Production or in a senior manufacturing leadership role.
- Strong understanding of production operations, maintenance, quality, safety and continuous improvement.
- Experience in dipped-product manufacturing, particularly latex or nitrile gloves, is highly preferred.
- Alternatively, substantial experience in high-volume process manufacturing, ideally across a broad range of products.
- Exposure to manufacturing of medical/examination gloves, surgical gloves, cleanroom products, textiles or other PPE-related products is advantageous.
- Ability to assess manufacturing operations and site readiness quickly through direct shop-floor engagement.
- Comfortable conducting Gemba walks, engaging with frontline employees and interacting with senior site leadership.
- Experience working with structured diagnostic or operational assessment frameworks.
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English.
- Willingness to travel across Sri Lanka and South India for site visits.
