Purpose of the Role

Management of all components for a successful commercial Hot Pepper breeding program; drawing up aims & objectives of Hot Pepper Breeding Portfolio for South Asia & other allied geographies, target product concepts and manage budget cost centre and appropriate allocation of resources in current & long range; managing-supporting & development of breeding support personnel in Hot Pepper breeding program.

Position: Senior Breeder – Hot Pepper

Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka

Reporting to: R&D; Lead – Vegetable Crops

Qualifications: M.Sc. / Ph.D. in Genetics & Plant Breeding / Vegetable Science with minimum 15 years of relevant breeding / research experience; valuable hands-on commercial breeding domain with proven track record of product delivery.

Major Job Responsibilities

1. Planning,



documenting and implementing the breeding goals on time & within budget, and report on progress against goals
2. Researching methods & techniques for improving Hot Pepper breeding to identify competent commercial hybrids and budget cost monitoring of breeding projects
3. Germplasm enhancement & management, creation & evaluation of breeding populations
4. Staying informed about commercial Hot Pepper developments in industry to align product profile/ portfolio
5. Ensure that the breeding team is trained and compliant with Advanta ESH policies to ensure safe operations of breeding/ research program

Technical Competencies:

1. Scientific creativity with strong background in Plant Breeding, Genetics, quantitative genetics
2. Field plot techniques and statistical analysis with station & off-station trials conclusions
3. Knowledge of Molecular Marker application to breeding with interventions of other technologies in commercial breeding
4. Good level of competency in computer skills
