Reports to Director • Based Delhi NCR, with regular travel to Kharagpur and Palwal • Grade Senior Manager to AGM for a candidate who demonstrably builds the cost sheet himself

What you will own

Enquiry and feasibility. Receive customer drawings and enquiries. Run technical feasibility with die design, press operations, heat treatment and the machine shop section profile against press size and billet, alloy and temper against the application, tolerances against what our process actually holds, machining sequence against our capability. Decide what we quote and what we decline, and say why.

Costing and quotation. Own the cost build-up for every part quoted: metal, extrusion conversion, die cost and amortisation, recovery and yield, ageing and heat treatment, straightening and cutting, surface treatment, machining cycle time, tooling and fixtures, inspection, packing, freight, overhead and margin. Sign the quotation. Defend it to the customer line by line.

Commercial. Price negotiation and settlement. Metal price pass-through and RM indexing clauses. Die and tooling recovery terms. Commercial impact of engineering changes. Payment and delivery terms on new business.

Development. Drive the part through APQP PFMEA, control plan, die trials, dimensional and metallurgical validation, capability studies, PPAP submission and customer approval. Hold the timeline the customer was given.

SOP handover.



Transfer the part to plant operations with process parameters frozen, standard cost agreed with plant finance, and capacity planned. The handover is not done until the plant can run it without you.

Team and governance. Lead the costing engineer and the NPD engineers. Maintain the enquiry-to-SOP tracker. Run win/loss analysis on quotations lost. Review quoted cost against actual cost at SOP on every part, and close the gap in the next quotation.

Who we are looking for

Non-negotiable. You have personally built cost sheets for metal components taken a drawing, decided the process route, and costed it element by element to a defensible number. Not reviewed one. Not negotiated one somebody else built. Built one. This is tested at interview.

Essential

15 to 20 years in automotive components, Tier-1 or Tier-2 supplying OEMs

Hands-on with at least one metal-forming process extrusion, forging, casting, stamping plus machining

¢ Owned new product introduction end to end, not a slice of it

¢ Fluent in APQP and PPAP in an IATF 16949 environment

¢ Direct OEM and Tier-1 customer handling, including commercial negotiation

¢ Degree in mechanical or production engineering

Desirable

¢ Aluminium extrusion specifically billets, press sizes, die design and correction, recovery, ageing

¢ Machined and value-added components, with real exposure to cycle time and tooling economics

¢ Aerospace or defence work under AS9100D

¢ Export business, and familiarity with CBAM

¢ SAP, particularly product costing
