Job Summary

Operon Strategist is looking for a skilled and hands-on MEP Civil Engineer with 2–5 years of experience in industrial construction, MEP coordination, and engineering design.

The candidate will be responsible for industrial building planning, civil engineering drawings, BOQ preparation, quantity estimation, cost estimation, and coordination of MEP services for industrial and manufacturing facilities, particularly medical device and healthcare manufacturing plants.

The role involves multidisciplinary coordination with architectural, structural, PEB, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, cleanroom, process engineering, and equipment consultants.

Candidates with experience in industrial, pharmaceutical, healthcare, cleanroom, or manufacturing facility projects will be preferred.

Key Responsibilities

1. Civil Engineering & Industrial Building Planning

- Prepare industrial building layouts, floor plans, sections, elevations, and civil construction drawings.
- Coordinate architectural layouts with manufacturing and process requirements.
- Identify civil requirements for equipment foundations, plinths, pits, trenches, and utility openings.
- Coordinate RCC, structural steel, and PEB requirements.
- Review civil and architectural drawings and identify design discrepancies.
- Coordinate flooring, partitions, drainage, and other civil construction activities.

2. HVAC & Mechanical Coordination

- Coordinate HVAC layouts, ducting, ventilation, and piping routes.
- Understand basic HVAC loads, airflow, and ventilation requirements.
- Coordinate AHU locations, equipment spaces, and maintenance access.
- Review HVAC drawings and ensure integration with civil and architectural layouts.

3. Electrical Coordination

- Coordinate electrical layouts, lighting, power distribution, and cable tray routing.
- Understand power requirements for industrial machinery.
- Coordinate transformer, DG, electrical panel, and equipment locations.
- Review electrical drawings and ensure proper civil provisions for cable routes and openings.

4. Plumbing, Drainage & Fire Protection

- Coordinate domestic and industrial water supply and drainage layouts.
- Coordinate sanitary, rainwater harvesting,



and external drainage requirements.
- Understand basic water demand, storage, and pumping requirements.
- Coordinate firefighting equipment locations and piping routes with specialist consultants.

5. Industrial Utilities Coordination

- Coordinate compressed air, process water, chilled water, exhaust, and other industrial utilities.
- Review machinery and equipment utility requirements.
- Coordinate utility routing, service access, trenches, and equipment installation provisions.

6. BOQ, Quantity Estimation & Costing

- Prepare civil and MEP-related BOQs and quantity take-offs.
- Calculate quantities for excavation, PCC, RCC, masonry, plastering, flooring, and painting.
- Prepare basic cost estimates and material requirement statements.
- Review contractor quotations and support technical and commercial comparisons.
- Assist in project cost estimation and engineering specifications.

7. Consultant Coordination & Project Execution

- Coordinate with architectural, structural, PEB, MEP, cleanroom, and process engineering consultants.
- Review multidisciplinary drawings and identify design clashes.
- Coordinate drawing revisions and technical clarifications.
- Conduct site visits to verify site conditions and construction progress.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors during project execution.
- Support site measurements, quantity verification, testing, commissioning, and project handover.

Required Software Skills

- AutoCAD – Good to advanced working knowledge.
- Microsoft Excel – Valuable working knowledge.
- Revit / Revit MEP – Working knowledge.

Preferred: MS Project or similar project scheduling software.

Educational Qualification

- B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant engineering discipline.

Experience Requirements

- 2–5 years of relevant experience in industrial civil engineering, MEP coordination, or industrial facility projects.
- Practical experience in engineering drawings,



BOQ preparation, quantity estimation, and project coordination.
- Understanding of industrial construction and manufacturing facility requirements.

Preferred Industry Experience

- Medical device manufacturing facilities.
- Pharmaceutical and healthcare manufacturing plants.
- Industrial and manufacturing facilities.
- Cleanroom and GMP-regulated projects.
- Industrial building construction and PEB projects.

Note: Candidates with experience limited to residential construction, commercial interiors, or high-rise building projects will not be preferred.

Candidate Profile

- Robust practical understanding of civil engineering and industrial construction.
- Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, drainage, and industrial utility coordination.
- Ability to prepare, interpret, and review engineering drawings.
- Experience in BOQ preparation, quantity take-offs, and cost estimation.
- Understanding of industrial machinery and equipment installation requirements.
- Good technical communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple consultants, contractors, and vendors.
- Willingness to undertake project site visits.

Role Scope The position primarily focuses on industrial civil engineering, building planning, engineering drawings, BOQ preparation, estimation, and MEP service coordination. Specialized structural calculations, detailed PEB engineering, advanced HVAC design, electrical system engineering, complex firefighting design, and detailed cleanroom engineering will be handled by specialist consultants. The selected candidate will coordinate these requirements and ensure their proper integration into the overall facility design.
